Top tips for visiting Svalbard

Spotting Polar Bears – While Svalbard is well known for it’s polar bears, they are a protect species and the local people are very serious about keeping them safe. While we can’t specifically take you out to find them (that wouldn’t be safe). However, if you’re really interested in seeing one, then our summer boat tour is your best bet!

Preparing for the cold – Of course, being so far north it gets pretty cold in Svalbard (-20°C in winter). Our hosts will provide thermal clothing when our on activities, but you should bring your own thermals and warm clothes for when you’re exploring out by yourself!

Seeing the Northern Lights – You have a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights between February and early April, especially during the Camp Barentz wilderness evening. However, sightings depend on weather conditions and solar activity and cannot be guaranteed.
