This summer tour runs from 17th June – 30th September**

Embark on an unforgettable journey to Svalbard, where the Arctic summer offers a world of adventure, untouched wilderness, and unique wildlife encounters. Svalbard is one of the best places on Earth to see polar bears in the wild, there estimated to be around 3,000, and in Summer and early Autumn they may be seen by boat expedition as they hunt along the shores or on the ice floes, however sighting can never be guaranteed. This immersive four-day experience takes you beyond the ordinary, offering a blend of exploration, history, and authentic local traditions.

Feel the thrill of gliding past majestic glaciers, where towering ice formations and Arctic wildlife create a scene straight out of a nature documentary. Stand in the footsteps of miners as you descend into a historic coal mine, uncovering stories of resilience and survival. Connect with the spirit of the Arctic as you race across the tundra on a husky-pulled wheeled sled, the eager dogs leading the way through the vast, open landscapes.

The evenings are just as magical. At Camp Barentz, nestled in the wilderness, you’ll gather around a crackling fire with a warm bowl of reindeer soup, learning about the rich history of this extraordinary land. Gourmet meals in charming restaurants complete the experience, bringing the taste of the Arctic to your plate.

This is more than a holiday – it’s an adventure of a lifetime, where every moment is filled with wonder, discovery, and the raw beauty of the High Arctic.

Please note that on experiences throughout the tour you may join a small group. A full example itinerary is detailed below, activity timings can differ slightly, your own personal schedule will be given to you upon check in.

Arrival in Svalbard & Wilderness Evening at Camp Barentz

Arrive in Svalbard and take private transfer to Svalbard Hotell, Polfareren (Journey is approximately 5-10min) where you will check-in for your break (you will still check-in at the Polfareren if you choose to stay at The Vault or Svalbard Lodge).

As evening falls, venture into the wild for an authentic Arctic experience at Camp Barentz. Nestled in the vast wilderness outside Longyearbyen, this secluded setting offers a magical atmosphere where you’ll gather around a roaring fire, enjoy traditional reindeer soup, and sip on warming drinks. Listen to captivating stories of Arctic exploration while enjoying homemade cake and coffee, making for an unforgettable night under the midnight sun.

Glacier Safari

After breakfast, you will leave on an extraordinary Glacier Safari, a six-hour boat expedition through icy fjords and towering glaciers. Cruise along the dramatic coastline, keeping an eye out for Arctic wildlife such as seals, seabirds, and even the occasional polar bear! Along the way, enjoy a warming lunch, hot drinks, and biscuits as you take in the stunning scenery of this frozen wonderland.

Spend the afternoon exploring Longyearbyen’s charming streets, visiting its unique shops and galleries, or learning about the region’s history at the Svalbard Museum. In the evening, enjoy a relaxed dinner at Svalbar, where a delicious 2-course meal awaits, providing the perfect introduction to Arctic flavours and hospitality.

Life in a Coal Mine & Husky Adventure

Start the day by stepping back in time with a visit to an old coal mine. This immersive three-hour experience takes you into the depths of a disused mine, where you’ll learn about the miners’ harsh working conditions and the vital role coal mining played in Svalbard’s history. Equipped with a helmet and headlamp, navigate the narrow tunnels as your guide shares fascinating insights into life below ground.

After returning to Longyearbyen for a leisurely lunch, get ready for an exhilarating afternoon on a Husky adventure. Meet an enthusiastic team of huskies and experience the thrill of dog sledding on wheels, as they pull you across the tundra. This hands-on experience allows you to take the reins, interact with the huskies, and witness their boundless energy and love for running.

End the day with a well-earned 3-course dinner at Restaurant Polfareren, where you can savour Arctic-inspired cuisine in a cosy and welcoming atmosphere.

Curiosity naturally draws people to Svalbard, a wilderness that’s as captivating as it is challenging to navigate safely. Over the years, our role as guides has evolved to help travellers explore the archipelago responsibly, while sharing the many stories and insights that make life here so unique.

Our aim is to create meaningful experiences rooted in respect – for both our guests and the fragile environment we call home.

In winter, we spend our days out on snowmobiles, visiting ice caves, historical sites, frozen fjords, and expansive snowy landscapes.

As the seasons change, so do our adventures. In summer and beyond, we explore the stunning Isfjorden by open RIB boat, hike through wild terrain, and head out on ATV safaris – just to name a few.

We’re a diverse team of guides with different personalities, backgrounds, and years spent in Svalbard. But what unites us is a shared love for nature and a passion for sharing it with others.

Location

Located in the heart of the Arctic, Svalbard is one of the world’s northernmost inhabited regions, offering a striking contrast between remote wilderness and vibrant local culture. In summer, the midnight sun bathes the landscape in endless daylight, revealing dramatic mountain peaks, icy fjords, and vast tundra teeming with life.

Longyearbyen, the main settlement, is a fascinating blend of adventure and history, where modern comforts meet the raw beauty of the Arctic. This unique destination offers the perfect balance between thrilling outdoor activities and moments of serene appreciation for the awe-inspiring landscape.
