Whether it’s trekking through this epic country in search of these mountain gorillas, or retracing the steps of John Speke on his search for the source of the nile. Peak Season, June-Sept & Dec-Feb. These are the busiest times, with high crowds and prices. The dry weather means wildlife viewing is optimal though that comes at the expense of prices.

Low Season, March-May & Oct-Nov. With lower prices and fewer tourists, this is a great time to go. Occasional down pours mean lush landscapes and great wildlife viewing.

Top tips for activity holidays in Uganda

Carry cash – while card payments are accepted in larger hotels, smaller restaurants and markets might only accept cash.

Dress tropically – though generally warm in Uganda, being tropical it can rain unexpectedly so wear lightweight, breathable clothes.

Sample the cuisine – try Ugandan staples like matoke, posho or rolex, the local food is such a good way to get to know a culture.

Stay safe – generally Uganda is a safe country, though it wouldn’t be a good idea to travel alone in Urban areas at night.

Unmissable highlights

Falls of the river Nile – located in Murchison National Park, where the River Nile is forced through a narrow cleft that causes some incredible rapids. You can see this wonder from the best viewing point, guided by our local host.
Weave a basket with locals – One of our favourite activities on our holiday is the chance to weave a wicker basket with some local craftswomen. They will show you how to weave and dye the basket using their traditional methods.
Lake Mburo National Park – One of the most fertile regions in Uganda, and one of the smallest conservation areas. You’ll have the chance to see zebras. elands, impalas and more! An off-the-beaten-track gem.
