Nestled 8 miles from the nearest town of Forres, this secluded retreat allows you to fully embrace the wilderness of the Scottish landscape while enjoying an adventure holiday that offers a perfect escape from everyday life. As a lesser-known gem, the area is rapidly gaining popularity for its close proximity to the awe-inspiring Cairngorm Mountains and its stunning coastline with beautiful beaches. With a wealth of outdoor activities available, from hiking to water sports, this destination is perfect for those looking to explore the great outdoors and reconnect with nature.

During your two-night stay, you’ll enjoy staying in this unique accommodation a rustic glamping experience in a hand-built shepherd’s hut, where you can barbecue and cook outdoors, followed by evenings spent by a crackling campfire under a starlit sky after a day of exploration. On your full day, embark on an exhilarating white water rafting adventure on the magnificent River Findhorn, guided by local experts. With optional cliff jumping up to 30 feet, this thrilling experience offers a dynamic exploration of the area’s diverse landscapes, including serene woodlands, traditional farmland, dramatic gorges, and stunning waterfalls. Check-in at reception where a member of staff will assist you to the accommodation.

Once you’ve settled in you have the opportunity to spend the remainder of the day exploring the area, walking along the river or enjoying the beautiful woodland and relaxing by the fire.

 

 

White Water Rafting and Cliff Jumping

Be at reception at 10.15am bring swimsuits and towels. 

There river guides will prepare you for the activity of white water rafting and cliff jumping.

From the site we will take you to the River Findhorn to experience one of the last main rivers untouched by man, and offers the best white water rafting adventure experience in the UK for both unparalleled scenery and exciting river trip.

On return, take a hot shower and relax back at your accommodation.

Shepherd's Hut

This Shepherd's Hut is a rustic, quiet glamping experience with a campfire and wood burner.

Each of the two hand built shepherd’s huts are located in a tranquil and private setting and have a comfortable sprung full-size double bed complete with hypoallergenic pillows and duvet.

Inside is a small wood burner, dresser, double ring gas cooking hob, plates, cutlery, pots and pans to provide a wonderful self-contained retreat.

Outside log seating and steel campfire with BBQ skillet make for an authentic glamping experience where you can enjoy the quiet sounds of resident wildlife or changing light in the forest fading to a brilliant dark sky of glittering stars.

Low voltage solar lighting makes this a truly off-grid low carbon holiday.

A short walk away is the toilet/shower block and an outdoor sink for all your washing-up needs.

This wilderness retreat feels very remote yet is located only 8 miles south from the town of Forres in Moray which has a good number of restaurants, takeaways, and bars along with supermarkets and high street shopping.

Located just a short drive away from the Cairngorm Mountains or beaches and internationally award-winning coastline, you’ll find tons to do.

The rafting experience takes place on the River Findhorn, one of the last untouched rivers in the UK when it comes to human development.

What do I need to bring for the rafting?

Please bring:
Towel
Swimming gear
Footwear such as old trainers that can get wet and are suitable for walking on uneven ground (note: we supply wet shoes for £2 per pair which goes to fund the Findhorn, Nairn and Lossie Fisheries Trust).

How fit and how much experience do I need for the rafting?

No previous rafting or river experience is required; you only need to be fit enough to comfortably walk 2 miles.

When is this available?

This Romantic adventure is available daily, from April - October.

When can we check in?

Check in is 15:00 - 19:00 on day 1
Check out is by 11:00am on day 3

How many people can come?

There are 2 Shepard's Huts available, both sleep 2 people.

Is there Wifi?

The hut itself does not have wifi, but the check-in building is a three-minute walk from the shepherd's huts.

How far away are bathroom facilities and reception from the hut?

About a 3 minute walk; however you can bring your car with you to the hut.

Are the Huts dog friendly?

Dogs are permitted on a request basis and a additional charge is payable locally (roughly £5 per dog per night).

Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times due to agreement with the local farmer and other land users.
