Arrival in Valladolid

After landing in Cancun, a private vehicle will transport you directly to the colonial city of Valladolid. With colourful facades and cobblestone streets, Valladolid offers a charming start to your journey. Check in to your centrally located hotel and spend the afternoon strolling through the main square or enjoying local Yucatecan cuisine at a streetside café. Soak in the city’s relaxed vibe and rich cultural heritage as you ease into your Mexican adventure.

Sacred Cenotes & Mayan Bee Traditions

Today, journey deeper into the cultural and natural traditions of the Yucatán Peninsula with an immersive experience centred around Mayan heritage, healing practices, and the region’s unique ecosystems.

What should I pack for cenote visits and the Temazcal?

Bring swimwear, water shoes, a towel, suncream, and a reusable water bottle. A light, breathable outfit is ideal for the Temazcal.

When is the best time to travel to the Yucatán?

The best time to visit the Yucatán is from November to April, during the dry season, when temperatures are warm and humidity is lower—ideal for exploring ruins, cenotes, and markets in comfort. These months offer the most pleasant weather, with plenty of sunshine and minimal rain.

May to October is the wet season, with higher humidity and tropical rain showers, especially in the afternoons. However, this can be a quieter, greener time to visit, with lush landscapes and fewer tourists.

What is a cenote?

A cenote (pronounced seh-no-tay) is a natural sinkhole created when the roof of a limestone cave collapses, revealing crystal-clear groundwater below. Found across the Yucatán Peninsula, cenotes were sacred to the ancient Maya, believed to be portals to the underworld and used in rituals. Today, they offer a unique place to swim, snorkel, and connect with nature. Some are open and sunlit, others are partially enclosed caves with stunning rock formations.

Is this tour suitable for children?

This itinerary is best suited for adults and older children (age 12+) due to the nature of the activities. Experiences such as the Temazcal ceremony, cooking workshops, archaeological site tours, and cenote visits require a level of patience, participation, and physical activity that may not be ideal for younger children. However, older children and teens with an interest in culture, nature, and history will find the trip highly engaging.
