Begin with a gentle coastal arrival in Chilaw before heading into the wild landscapes of Wilpattu National Park for two safari experiences in search of elephants, leopards, crocodiles, sloth bears and birdlife. From there, unwind with three nights at Nilaveli Beach, where white sands and calm turquoise waters offer the perfect pause between safari and cultural discovery.
The journey then continues inland to Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. Explore the atmospheric Dambulla Cave Temple, climb the iconic Sigiriya Lion Rock, walk up Pidurangala for sunset and discover Polonnaruwa by bike, with a guided primate-focused walk through the ruins adding a memorable wildlife perspective to the history.
From the Cultural Triangle, head off the beaten track to Gammaduwa, where the pace becomes slower and more rural. Walk through paddy fields, forest trails, pepper farms and remote villages, with the option to continue towards Riverstone, swim in a waterfall, explore the tea estate, try mountain biking or take part in a hands-on tea-making experience. The trip finishes in Kandy, with the Temple of the Tooth, Botanical Gardens, tuk tuk rides, market visits and a cooking experience that brings you closer to everyday Sri Lankan life.
This is a great choice for couples who want more than a classic sightseeing tour. It combines Sri Lanka’s must-see highlights with active exploration, meaningful local encounters and well-paced downtime, creating a journey that feels adventurous, enriching and rewarding from start to finish.
