Experience Montenegro in a way like never before. Enjoy this exciting 8 day trip filled with adrenaline infused activities and hikes through the beautiful countryside.

Over eight days, you will move from the warm, rugged south to the wild mountains of the north, experiencing the country through four distinct adventures. Each one reveals a different side — from canyoning through narrow rock corridors to kayaking across still waters, from long mountain hikes to the raw power of rafting through Europe’s deepest canyon.

This journey is designed with contrast in mind. Days of adrenaline are balanced with moments of stillness — evenings in carefully chosen hotels, shared meals, and time to recover before the next challenge begins. It is as much about where you rest as where you explore.

Guided throughout by experienced local experts, the route adapts to conditions and pace, ensuring the experience remains both safe and deeply immersive. You are not simply following a schedule — you are moving through landscapes that demand to be felt.

By the time you reach the high peaks of Durmitor, the journey has shifted. What began as a series of activities becomes something more connected — a deeper understanding of a country shaped by water, stone and elevation.

*From price based on travel for 4 people. For large groups or solo travellers please enquire directly to hello@nitgb.com

Arrival and Introduction to Old Town Bar

On arrival, you will be met and transferred to the historic town of Stari Bar, set beneath the slopes of Rumija Mountain. After checking in, you step straight into your first introduction to Montenegro — not through landscapes, but through history.

You will explore the Old Town, a place shaped by centuries of cultural overlap, where different religions and traditions have coexisted over time. The atmosphere is quiet, layered, and deeply rooted in the past — a fitting place to begin.

The evening is free to settle in, with the option to enjoy dinner in the Old Town before returning to your hotel to rest ahead of the days to come.

Accommodation: Stara Čaršija Hotel & Spa (or similar)

Canyoning in Međureč Canyon

After breakfast, you will travel inland to the starting point of your canyoning experience. The landscape begins to close in — steep rock walls, flowing water, and a sense of moving into something more raw.

This is one of Montenegro’s most complete canyoning routes, combining walking through riverbeds with abseiling down rock faces and navigating natural pools. The water remains warm through the summer, adding to the sense of immersion.

Led by experienced, certified guides, the day is both challenging and controlled, with time to pause and take in the surroundings. A break for lunch is taken along the route (payable locally), before returning to Old Town Bar in the afternoon.

The evening is yours to unwind after an active start to the journey.

Kayaking on Lake Skadar and Journey North

Today shifts the pace. After breakfast, you travel to Lake Skadar National Park, where the landscape opens out into wide, still waters and distant mountain views.

Before setting off, you will visit the historic fortress of Žabljak Crnojevića, once a medieval capital overlooking the lake. From here, your kayaking route begins — following narrow waterways that gradually lead into the lake itself, passing water lilies, quiet villages and dense vegetation.

You may choose to stop in the village of Karuč for lunch, a hidden lakeside spot known for its peaceful setting (payable locally). Routes can vary in length depending on pace, allowing for a more flexible experience on the water.

In the afternoon, you leave the lake behind and travel north to Kolašin, where the scenery transforms into forested mountains. After checking in, you will enjoy dinner at your hotel.

Accommodation: Bianca Spa & Resort (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast and dinner included

Hiking in Komovi Nature Park

After breakfast, you will head deeper into the mountains, travelling to Komovi Nature Park — a remote and lesser-visited region near the Albanian border.

The hike takes you through varied terrain, from beech forests and open valleys to rocky slopes and high viewpoints. The sense of scale grows as you climb, with views stretching across multiple mountain ranges.

This is a full day of walking, but with time to pause, take in the landscape, and experience the stillness that defines this part of Montenegro. Lunch is taken during the hike (not included).

Returning to Kolašin in the evening, you will have time to relax before dinner at the hotel.

Tara Rafting Experience – Part 1

Today marks the start of one of Montenegro’s most iconic experiences — rafting through Tara Canyon, the deepest canyon in Europe.

After breakfast, you travel to the starting point near the Tara Bridge, where the river begins to reveal its scale. The first day takes you through quieter sections, allowing you to settle into the rhythm of the water.

Along the way, you pass waterfalls, side streams and dense forest, with opportunities to pause and take in the surroundings. A packed lunch is included, enjoyed by the river.

By late afternoon, you arrive at your riverside accommodation, where dinner is included. The evening is spent surrounded by nature, with time to relax after a day on the water.

Accommodation: Porto Tara (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included

Tara Rafting Experience – Part 2 and Piva Region

After breakfast, you return to the river for a more dynamic second day of rafting. This stretch includes a series of rapids, with time for swimming, optional cliff jumping, and moments to simply drift and take in the canyon walls rising above you.

Following the rafting experience, you leave the river behind and visit Piva Monastery — a peaceful and historically significant site known for its intricate frescoes.

From here, you continue to Plužine in Piva Nature Park, where you check into your guesthouse and enjoy dinner in a more relaxed, local setting.

Accommodation: Zvono Guesthouse (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast and dinner included

Durmitor National Park and Prutaš Peak Hike

Your final full day takes you into Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO-listed landscape of dramatic peaks and wide valleys.

The hike to Prutaš Peak offers one of the most rewarding routes in the region. The trail climbs steadily through open terrain, revealing expansive views across Montenegro and into neighbouring Bosnia.

This is a shorter but striking hike, with time to absorb the landscape before descending. On the return journey, you will visit a medieval stećci cemetery, adding a final cultural layer to the experience.

Back in Plužine, you will enjoy your final dinner — a moment to reflect on the journey from coast to mountains.

Accommodation: Zvono Guesthouse (or similar)
