I am an outdoor ‘nut’ , starting when I was in the Scouts as a kid and loved doing night hikes on Cannock Chase (great for map reading), trips to the Peak District and Wales, and then my interest really took off when I was at UEA Norwich – organising Fell and Cave trips which took students to all the hilly and interesting parts of the UK, including a two week trip to the Highlands. I spent a whole year as part of my course at Sogndal in Norway doing a “Friluftsliv” Outdoor Life course which included cross country skiing, loads of winter camping trips, caving, ice and rock climbing, canoeing and sailing as well as mountain and forest hiking. I started Walkabout Scotland to make my passion into my job,  and to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for the Scottish Highlands !

The guides working for Walkabout are all experienced and passionate walkers and great local guides. We are a pretty tight crew – Stuart, Pete, Florence, Josef and more recently Geoff (the author of the Bothy Bible) and Captain James all love to lead our amazing adventures, each one is a unique experience, and we never tire of showing our guests the beautiful place we are privileged to call home.
