Overview

Enjoy a week in the stunning Greek islands, and experience one of the most climate friendly watersports available!

This is a truly unique adventure, as you will experience being so close to the water, moving almost silently as you manoeuvre your kayak along the coast and many coves.

Arrival

Travel to Poros, and begin your adventure of a lifetime!

Check in time is from 4pm, when you can settle in, take yourself to the beach for a swim, and enjoy a complementary arrival dinner served around 8.30 pm in Odyssey restaurant.

 

 

Explore Poros

Start your day with a complementary breakfast at Odyssey.

You can spend the day exploring Poros, where you can rent a bike,or just hang out and swim, the choice is yours!

For dinner tonight you can try out the local tavern in Askeli hamlet or you can venture into Poros town where there are a multitude of traditional and modern Greek taverna.

 

Sea Kayaking

Start your day with a delicious breakfast, to fuel you for your first day sea kayaking!

Kayaking will begin around 10.00 am with an introduction to equipment and safety. You will then be introduced to some basic kayaking skills, followed by exploring nearby beaches where you can swim and snorkel. You will return to our Odyssey by 4.00 pm

Sea Kayaking

After breakfast, you start your second day on the sea!

Kayaking will begin at 10.00 am, where you will pick up some additional kayaking skills, participate in a longer sea kayak journey and enjoy the delights of the nearby small islands. There will be ample opportunity to stop, snorkel and swim in the clear blue warm Mediterranean. You will return to our Odyssey centre by 4.00 pm.

After this you are free to relax, and explore the local area in Askeli for dinner.

Sea Kayaking

After your breakfast, you’ll embark on your third day sea kayaking – you’ll be turning into a pro!

You will again develop some new kayaking skills; these could be for example rescues, some navigation, learn about the weather. You will take part in at least a 4 or 5 hour sea kayaking trip or trips. You will return to our Odyssey centre by 4.00pm. In the evening you are free to explore local taverna for dinner.    

Explore the local area

Today is a well-deserved relaxation day!

You can choose from a wide range of activities to try locally, (SUP), water ski, scuba dive – or you could take a ferry to visit another island, such as the picturesque islands of Hydra and Aegina.

If you need any suggestions, your host will be more than willing to provide you with recommendations.

Final Day Sea Kayaking

After a much needed delicious breakfast, get ready for your last day sea kayaking!

This will be a full 6 hour journey, and the destination will be determined by the weather. Some options include a trip to and from the Methana Peninsula or a visit to Modi island – you will be able to choose your choice of destination.

You will return to our Odyssey centre by 4pm, and will be able to spend your last evening exploring local tavernas in Askeli or Poros town.   

Departure

After your final breakfast, you’ll depart at 10am and return to Piraeus, with all your memories to cherish forever and your newfound sea kayaking skills!

Brian

Brian spent around 15 years working in Community Development and Social Work for various public and private agencies and always had a serious interest in outdoor education and skills. He has achieved various coaching certificates and in 2005 decided to put his skills to good use in his own business, with his passion for the outdoors, in particular around his home on the west coast of Scotland and his 'second home' Greece.

Brian runs several trips in Scotland and in Greece, during the year, coordinating activities for both regions, and has a deep knowledge of both locations, the people, places, culture, food and recipes, and will be very excited to meet you and share his knowledge and love of each country with you.

Location

Poros is a beautiful Greek island situated in the southern part of the Saronic Gulf. It is famous for its stunning scenery and mountainous landscape, and is the perfect place to immerse yourself in true Greek tranquility.

Fly into Athens airport, and you can take a bus or a taxi to Piraeus port and a ferry from there to Poros.

FAQs

How do I get to Poros?

Transfers:

On arrival at Athens Airport you can take a bus or a taxi to Piraeus port.
The buses depart just outside the arrivals terminal, and taxis can also be found here.
Taxis take around 40 mins and are around €80, the bus ticket is €6pp and the journey takes 1h 20mins
There are ferries running to Poros from Piraeus usually between 08:00 and 19:30.

The ferry journey takes around 1h 15 min
From Poros port to the hotel is around a 10 minute taxi ride. Taxis can be found on the port side.
For the return journey Ferries from Poros to Piraeus depart between approximately 0800 and 1800.
Alternatively a taxi can be arranged for the transfer from Athens Airport to the hotel. This takes the longer road route and includes a short ferry ride (5 mins) The whole journey is around 3 hours and costs around €140 euros pp one way. Please ask at time of booking if you would like us to book this for you.

Please note you should not book a flight arriving later than 3pm in order to be sure you connect with a ferry, and  your departure flight from Athens should not leave earlier than 2pm.
