A Week of Yoga, Gastronomy and Culture in Provence

Arrival is on Sunday evening

15:00-18:00: Arrive to the house at your own convenience.

Should you arrive earlier a note will be left for you at the front door with the code and directions for make yourself comfortable.

18:00 – 21:00: This evening we welcome new arrivals to the house for introductions and bonding accompanied by a dinner aperitif.

Accommodation

– Your accommodation is in the charming medieval village of Saint Jeannet, filled with cobbled streets and hiking paths leading you into the hills
– The village is located just 25 minutes from Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport
– You will stay in a 19th century converted village house has been restored to a charming B&B
– There is a total of 6 rooms, 3 twin rooms & 3 double rooms – some rooms come with balconies but all of them come with a view
– The light airy rooms are well-decorated and there is an ensuite bathroom with shower in each room
– During your free time, there is a lounge for you to relax in and free WiFi.
– A fully equipped kitchen is available for you to make your own meals, tea or snacks in
– Outside there is a lovely terrace to enjoy breakfast on
– A washing machine and dryer are also available for you as well as secure off-road parking
– Check in to your room from 3pm and check out before 11pm; however, please note your hosts can be flexible if necessary

Monday

08:00 – 09:30: Yoga session
09:30 – 11: 00: Homemade breakfast on the sunny terrace

11:00-19:00 Walking day; following the philosophy of the Buddhist Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, “Every breath we take, every step we make can be filled with peace, joy and serenity. We just have to awaken, living in the present moment”.

In spring and autumn, hike around the Baou towards the top of the mountain for a homemade picnic and a magnificent view of the Côte d’Azur and the Alps. The walk is 8 km, + 350m and -350m difference in height on a rocky path, 4h00 + time for the picnic at the top. We provide backpacks with “Camel back” (1.5L) for drinking as well as trekking poles on request. Please bring comfortable shoes (trainers should suffice), sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and in case of bad weather a windbreaker or rain gear.

In summer, we walk towards the gorges of the Cagnes or the Esteron (walk along the banks or sometimes in the river). You can swim in waterfalls and cool water pools. Please ensure you bring your swimsuit and towel. The walk itself is 5kms, + 100m and -100m of altitude difference on uneven ground, 2h30 + time for picnic and swimming in the river.

A picnic lunch, including a glass of wine, is included.
An introduction to meditation will take place during the excursion.

18:00 – 19:00: Meditation session.
20:00: Dinner organised by your hosts.

11:00 – 14:00: Free time to relax, meditate at your own rhythm, reserve a massage or wander around the picturesque streets of the village or in the surrounding hills

14:00 – 16:00: Introduction to benevolent communication (based on Non-Violent Communication) with a certified professional: introduction

16:00 – 18:00: Afternoon tea and cake

18:00- 21:00: Colourful conscientious cuisine: an informal workshop leading to dinner, a moment to
bring more mindfulness to nourishing both our physical body and our mind Wine included.

Wednesday

09:30 – 11:00: Yoga session
11:00 – 13:00: Homemade brunch on the sunny terrace
13:00 – 18:00: Free time to reserve a massage or Tibetan sound healing, wander the cobbled streets of this charming village, take a gentle climb for gorgeous views, or a short descent for a refreshing dip in the river, saunter to the village vineyard for a tasting led by the vintner, take in the local arts offer in the galleries of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, or by visiting the enchanting chapel designed by Henri Matisse in Vence, or even take a day trip to the oh-so-famous beaches of the Cote d’Azur.

19:00: Dinner, provided by the host, self-service.

Thursday

12:00 – 14:00: Free time to relax, meditate at your own rhythm, reserve a massage or wander around the picturesque streets of the village or in the surrounding hills

14:00 – 16:00: Continuation of the benevolent communication workshop (based on Non-Violent Communication) with a certified professional: practice

16:00 – 18:00: Afternoon tea and cake

18:00 – 19:00: Yoga

19:00: Dinner at your leisure – hosts are able to help with recommendations and booking tables.

Friday

08:00 – 09:30: Yoga session

09:30 – 11:00: Homemade breakfast on the sunny terrace.

11:00 – 17:00: Free flow day: to practice what we preach, being present. We leave the activity of this day open, to decide during the week. Activities in the past have included: trip to the beach, sampling the local art offer, a silent meditative walk in the village followed by a picnic and dip into the refreshing waters of a local river or wine-tasting at the village vineyard.

17:00-19:00: Plant-based French gastronomy workshop with our professional chef Noel

19:00-22:00: 3-course farewell dinner prepared during the gastronomy workshop. Wine included.

Personal development workshop with a certified therapist.

13:00 – 14:00: Free Time

14:00 – 17:00: Walk and meditative approach in the middle of nature: meditation / mantras

17:00 – 20:00: Farewell Dinner organised by your hosts

There will be a French gastronomy workshop with a professional French chef during which dinner is prepared while having drinks and tapas starters. This will be followed by the Farewell Dinner.

Saturday

09:30 – 10:00: Closure ceremony of the retreat

10:30 – 12:00: Homemade brunch on the sunny terrace and check out.

Your luggage can be stored if your departure is later in the day.

I was fortunate enough to have a week at the Frog's House in August and it was a welcome respite from a challenging year during the pandemic. Benoit and the team take care of everything with great care and attention. The room had a beautiful view across the valley towards the sea and the yoga studio looked on to the mountain tops. There was delicious healthy food and a full program that you could engage with, or step out of if you wanted a more leisurely pace. The village of Saint Jeannet is perched between two incredible mountain tops and is charming, authentic and contained. The day trips we took were so enjoyable and the river swims were real highlights of the trip. I travelled by myself but never felt lonely or out of place. Highly recommended.

Had an amazing time at the frogs house. The views are spectacular and has all the amenities you would ever need. The yoga was suitable for all levels, and as a beginner i found it very spiritual and testing physically but always felt amazing after. The food gave a real taste of French culture and was all locally sourced, delicious! Also really enjoyed the trips and the hosts felt more like friends rather than tour guides. The staff and people we met that were staying the same week really made the holiday, and honestly cant wait to go back again!
