This three-night escape is designed for those who want to sample the very best of Lapland’s winter experiences while enjoying one of the region’s most luxurious accommodations.

Arctic Sky Suites and Villas stand out as premium retreats — complete with private saunas, fireplaces, expansive windows and (in the villas) outdoor Jacuzzis facing the forest. They offer a level of comfort and design rarely found this far north, making them the perfect base for your Arctic adventure.

The programme balances authentic activities with time to relax. You drive your own husky team, snowshoe into the fells to reach an old prospector’s site, and travel by snowmobile across snowy ridgelines and forest trails. Each experience offers a different way to connect with Lapland’s landscape, its silence and its scale.

After dark, the focus shifts to the northern lights. Through aurora snowmobiling and a peaceful evening at the Aurora Camp, you venture out into the quietest corners of Saariselkä in search of the green glow of the Arctic sky. With wide horizons and minimal light pollution, the region offers excellent viewing conditions.

Meals, equipment and winter clothing are all taken care of, meaning your time is spent simply enjoying the Arctic at its most magical — and returning each night to the warmth and comfort of your Sky Suite or Villa.

A full example itinerary is detailed below, activity timings can differ slightly, your own personal schedule will be given to you upon check in.

Arrival Day

Land in Ivalo airport, where you will be met and taken directly to your accommodation for the duration of your Christmas holiday. Drive through the ethereal pine forest, and arrive at your very own cabin, nestled within the still, white forest.

Take some time to settle in, unpack or explore, then you can enjoy a delicious dinner in the restaurant.

You will be staying in a luxurious cabin, which provides panoramic surroundings of this winter wonderland and the pitch black polar night sky. With any luck, you’ll be able to witness the spectacle of the Northern Lights on your very first night in Lapland.

Meals: Dinner

Husky Safari & Evening Aurora Snowmobiling

Your adventure begins this morning with an exhilarating Husky Safari. After meeting the dogs and learning the basics of steering, you set off along forest trails, switching drivers halfway for everyone to experience the thrill of guiding the sled. The landscape shifts between quiet woodland and open fells, giving you a powerful sense of Lapland’s winter wilderness.

You return to the hotel for lunch and a relaxed afternoon — ideal for warming up in your private sauna, settling into your Arctic Sky accommodation, or exploring the village before dinner.

As darkness falls, you prepare for Aurora Snowmobiling. Travelling by snowmobile into the fell region after dusk is an experience in itself — the silence, the cold air, and the vast sky overhead create a sense of anticipation. Your guide leads you to areas with broad horizons and minimal light pollution, giving you the best chance of spotting the northern lights. Even without aurora activity, the sensation of riding through the Arctic night is unforgettable.

Snowshoeing, Snowmobile Safari & Evening at the Aurora Camp

This morning you join your guide for Snowshoeing to the Prospector’s Gold Mine, one of Saariselkä’s signature winter routes. The trail rises steadily through the trees, opening up to viewpoints across the fells. Along the way, the guide shares stories of early gold prospectors and the region’s history, adding depth to this scenic winter walk.

After lunch, you prepare for your Snowmobile Safari — a daytime journey across the frozen landscape. Following a driving introduction, you travel through forest corridors and across ridgelines, experiencing the Arctic terrain from a new perspective. The pace is comfortable yet exhilarating, offering a perfect balance for mixed-ability groups.

In the evening, you head out to the Aurora Camp. Set away from the village lights, the camp offers warmth, firelight and open views of the night sky. You’ll gather around the fire with hot drinks while watching for the aurora above the dark, wide Arctic horizon. The setting is peaceful and atmospheric — a gentle complement to the previous night’s faster-paced aurora chase.

Farewell

Your final morning in the Lapland. Wake up at a leisurely time  (check-out isn’t until 11 AM), and enjoy a final breakfast by the log fire as you reflect on the wonderful adventure you’ve had with us.

We’ll transfer you back to the airport, and look forward to maybe seeing you again!
