Activities in Kainuu

Skiing and Snowboarding: Skiing and Snowboarding in Kainuu is an exciting way to experience the beautiful landscape, and we’ve partnered with a sustainable ski resort that is actively working towards a net zero carbon footprint.

Reindeer Farm: An absolute staple to Finnish culture, in Kainuu you’ll have the chance to meet and spend time with reindeer. You can also show your skills with the traditional lasso and take photos with the reindeer.

Husky Safari: Travel with an experienced guide on a sleigh pulled by Siberian huskies. You will learn the basics of mushing and you can even get to try it out yourself. You’ll have the chance to stop and take pictures of landscapes.

What the guidebooks don’t tell you about Kainuu

Temperatures: Being so close to the Arctic circle it does get cold in Kainuu, between -5℃ and -20℃, while in the summer it is between 10℃ and 20℃.
The Northern lights: The Northern Lights are visible in Kainuu, for the best opportunity to see them go in winter when the nights are longer
What to wear: For the winter always remember to bring warm inner layers and waterproof outerwear , your hosts will provide you with warm overalls and boots for your activities.
