What you'll do

Secret Water is a luxury floating glamping pod, it is the first of its kind in the United Kingdom and will provide you with a totally unique and quirky self catering experience whilst you enjoy what the Southern Broads offer within the Waveney Valley. With stunning views towards Old Beccles bridge and the quay, it provides a unique base from which to explore the local area and beyond.  

Secret Water sleeps up to 4 in one double room and a bunk room. There is a small  kitchenette with a 2 ring induction hob, microwave and a small fridge; a wet room with a shower and she has underfloor heating. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use. 

There is a generous deck at the front of Secret Water positioned so you can watch the sun rise and the sunset. A place to eat breakfast,  plan your day ahead and watch the tales of the riverbank unfold around you. 

Included in the price of the hire is use of a row boat, and for the more adventurous an upgrade with  a basic sail pack is available. 

Whilst taking time out, you can put your feet up and use the service provided by Beccles Station cafe, to order an arrival hamper, a picnic for a day out, or even have your breakfast delivered to your deck everyday you are on holiday.

We are Simon, Mary and Nate Sparrow, living on our barge 'Misterton'. Spending our lives in, around, or on boats.

Our secret hideaway and quirky houseboats make the perfect place to create magical memories that become your stories. Floating and nestling on the Broads National park in the Suffolk market town of Beccles, where people and nature coexist seamlessly on the beautiful River Waveney.

Location

The Secret Water Glamping pod is located on the River Waveney, by the town of Beccles in Suffolk. It is very accessible by both train and car with shops around where you can buy food to cook in your boathouse or go to a local restaurant for a bite to eat.

Being right on the river, you can enjoy fishing off your boat house and even explore up and down the river basin in a kayak, enjoy all the local wildlife by going on a walk or even from your balcony.

You are just a short drive away from the coast so maybe even spend a day at the beach!

Check in is between 2:30pm and 5pm. You are welcome to arrive earlier, park up and explore.
If you need to check in later please let us know so that arrangements can be made. There is a late check in fee of £20 per hour ( or part hour) after 5:15pm.

FAQs

Can I bring my pet?

Unfortunately not for the Secret Water pod but you are able to bring your furry friends to the any of the boathouses ( Swallows, Amazon, Secret Garden)

Is the Secret Water non smoking?

Yes all the accommodations are non-smoking and non-vaping.

How far can you go in a day on a day boat?

The furthest trip is to Oulton Broad. Any further and you risk the tide not being with you and a late return. Late returns will get charged £25 for every part hour late, so we say don’t spoil your day, go as far as Oulton Broad, with a lovey lunch spot.

Does the accommodation come with bed linen and towels?

Yes, when you book you will be asked the number of guests coming and the beds will be made accordingly.

I’d rather not cook on holiday, what options are there?

There are a number of great local restaurants and takeaways in Beccles. You can also get food or a hamper delivered to your accommodation by Beccles Station Cafe.

What time is check in and check out ?

Check in is between 2:30pm and 5pm. You are welcome to arrive earlier, park up and explore.
If you need to check in later please let us know so that arrangements can be made. There is a late check in fee of £20 per hour ( or part hour) after 5:15pm.
