FAQs

Is the tour private or part of a group?

This tour is completely private. All the activities and experiences you are on your own but you will make plenty of friends along the way. If required, the tours and activities can be adjusted to cater for your needs.

When is the best time to travel?

Colombia is a year-round tourist destination, where prices and crowds peak mainly around public holidays rather than specific seasons. Here’s a general guide to help you plan:

Bogotá: Located in the highlands, Bogotá has a cool, spring-like climate year-round with daily showers, but the dry season from December to March is preferable.

Pereira: Pereira sees some rain throughout the year due to its lush landscape. December to March and July to September are the driest months, ideal for hiking.

Tayrona: The best weather for Tayrona and nearby beaches is from December to April, which is the dry season with sunny skies, minimal rainfall, and lower humidity.

Cartagena: December to April offers sunny, dry weather ideal for beach days and island visits.

Is there big changes in the weather and temperature for different parts of the tour?

Yes, Colombia’s geography means you’ll experience noticeable changes in climate as you move between regions on this journey.

In Bogotá, the capital sits at 2,600 metres above sea level, so expect cool, spring-like temperatures year-round—typically between 10°C and 20°C. Evenings can feel quite chilly, and it’s wise to pack layers and a light jacket.

When you fly to Pereira in the Coffee Triangle, the climate becomes warmer and more humid. Temperatures here tend to sit around 18–28°C, with lush green landscapes thanks to occasional rainfall. Lightweight clothing and a waterproof layer are recommended for outdoor activities.

In the Tayrona and Cartagena coastal regions, expect tropical, hot, and humid weather. Daytime temperatures often reach 30°C or higher, particularly in Cartagena, with warm evenings. Sun protection, breathable fabrics, and plenty of hydration are key here.

Overall, you’ll be moving from cooler highlands to warm, tropical lowlands—so packing for layers and comfort across varying conditions is the best approach.

Are there any seasons in Colombia?

Colombia doesn’t have traditional seasons—its weather varies by region and altitude. Instead, you'll experience shifts between wet and dry periods throughout the year.

In Bogotá, expect cool, spring-like weather year-round with more rain in April–May and October–November. The Coffee Triangle is warmer and greener, with similar rainy patterns but generally mild, pleasant conditions. On the Caribbean coast (Tayrona and Cartagena), the climate is hot and tropical. The dry season runs from December to April, while May to November sees more humidity and afternoon showers, though it stays warm throughout.

Can flights be added to itinerary?

Flights are not included in the itinerary but yes, please speak to our team about adding International and domestic flights to this package.
