Your adventure begins in Guatemala City, the country’s bustling capital. While often overlooked, it provides a glimpse into Guatemala’s modern and historical contrasts, with museums and vibrant markets worth exploring.

You will visit the enchanting Lake Atitlán, a crater lake surrounded by towering volcanoes and charming villages. In San Juan La Laguna, you’ll experience local Mayan culture, renowned for its colorful textiles and art cooperatives. For a cultural deep dive, Chichicastenango Market offers an explosion of color and energy. This indigenous market is one of the largest in Central America, where artisans sell handcrafted textiles, masks, and traditional goods.

You will stay in Flores which is the gateway to Tikal Archaeological Reserve, one of the most spectacular Maya sites. Towering pyramids rise from the dense jungle, offering breathtaking views and a mystical connection to Guatemala’s ancient past.

Crossing into Belize, the tranquil Azure del Mar provides a luxurious retreat along the Caribbean coast, setting the stage for ocean adventures.

Belize is famous for its marine biodiversity, and snorkeling at Silk Caye is a must. The turquoise waters teem with vibrant coral reefs, sea turtles, and tropical fish. Guatemala City tour and Lake Atitlán

After breakfast you will be collected from your hotel for your Guatemala City tour, offering  a rich tapestry of historical landmarks, cultural institutions, and vibrant markets. Begin your day at the city’s main square, a focal point of local life and history. The plaza is surrounded by significant landmarks, providing a window into Guatemala’s rich past. Adjacent to the plaza,the National Palace of Culture, a  former presidential palace, now serves as a museum. Its impressive architecture and art collections offer a deep dive into the nation’s cultural heritage.

You will visit  Kaminaljuyú, an ancient Mayan city located within the modern city limits, offering a glimpse into the region’s pre-Columbian history, and learn about the culture and cuisine of the city. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this bustling market. It’s an ideal place to purchase handcrafted souvenirs and sample authentic Guatemalan dishes, such as “pepian” (a traditional meat stew) or “jocon” (a green sauce-based chicken dish). Your guide will provide context and historical background, enriching your understanding of Guatemala City, offering insights to the city’s diverse culture, art, traditions and cuisine.

Later in the day you will head to the picturesque Lake Atitlán, where you will spend the next two nights. Nestled in Guatemala’s highlands Lake Atitlan is a breathtaking spectacle, occupying a vast volcanic caldera, surrounded by steep, verdant hills and dramatic volcanic peaks, which creates a stunning natural amphitheater.

Boat Ride from Lake Atitlán to San Juan and Santiago Atitlán

After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll set off towards Lake Atitlán, renowned for its stunning beauty and vibrant indigenous cultures.

Your first destination is the picturesque town of San Juan La Laguna. This community is celebrated for its dedication to preserving traditional crafts and customs. You will engage with the Tz’utujil Maya inhabitants, gaining insights into their daily lives, customs, and traditions and visit cooperatives where artisans employ natural dyes derived from plants to create vibrant textiles. 

Following your enriching experience in San Juan, you’ll continue by boat to Santiago Atitlán, a town steeped in history and spiritual significance.Discover the revered figure of Maximón, a deity who embodies a blend of Mayan and Catholic traditions. Known for his unorthodox persona, Maximón is often depicted indulging in cigarettes and liquor. Each year, his effigy is hosted by different caretakers, and visitors can observe rituals performed in his honour.

In the afternoon you’ll return to your hotel, carrying with you a deeper appreciation for the traditions and lifestyles of the Lake Atitlán communities and have some free time to relax.

This morning after breakfast prepare to embrace the hustle and bustle of the village on Chichicastenango Market* day.

After a delightful breakfast at your hotel, you’ll check out and be greeted by your private driver, who will escort you to your next destination,  Antigua. 

En route, you’ll experience the vibrant atmosphere of Chichicastenango on a market* day. Held every Thursday and Sunday, the market is a kaleidoscope of colours and activities, seamlessly blending a domestic marketplace with a renowned handicraft bazaar. Here, you’ll find an extensive array of goods catering to locals, as well as handcrafted items that captivate travellers. The market also serves as a significant ceremonial site, offering a unique opportunity to witness vivid displays of indigenous religious practices that reflect a rich syncretism of traditions.

After immersing yourself in the cultural tapestry of Chichicastenango, your journey continues to Antigua Guatemala, where you’ll settle into your accommodations at Hotel Mesón de María for the next two nights, providing an ideal base to explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Antigua.

Walking Tour of Antigua with a Macadamia & Coffee Tour

This morning your guide will meet you at your hotel and you will venture through the historical former capital of Guatemala, Antigua, nestled in a valley and framed by the towering Volcán de Agua, Volcán de Fuego, and Volcán Acatenango, Antigua, is a breathtaking colonial town where history, culture, and natural beauty come together in perfect harmony. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Antigua is renowned for its cobblestone streets, colourful Spanish-Baroque architecture, and beautifully preserved ruins of centuries-old churches and convents.

Your guide will lead you through the city’s historic center, where you’ll explore architectural landmarks, museums, and the Catedral de San Jose, gaining insights into their significance and restoration efforts.

Enjoy  lunch at one of Antigua’s many  restaurants, savouring the local cuisine and in the afternoon your driver will transport you on a brief 20-minute journey to the Valhalla Macadamia Farm, an eco-tourism farm dedicated to sustainable agriculture and reforestation.

At the farm, you’ll receive a tour detailing the cultivation and processing of macadamia nuts, as well as the farm’s reforestation initiatives. Indulge in complimentary facial treatments using their macadamia oil products and take a leisurely stroll through the picturesque gardens before returning to the hotel.

Travel from Antigua to Flores (domestic flight)

Today you will depart the historical city of Antigua and be transferred to La Aurora International Airport Airport to catch your flight* to Flores (Mundo Maya International Airport).

On your way to the airport you may stop for a little shopping in the vibrant artisan markets of Antigua Guatemala, where local indigenous artisans showcase their exquisite handcrafted wares, then you’ll bid farewell to this historic city and your  private driver will then escort you to the airport for your onward journey to Flores, Petén.

Upon arrival in Petén, a dedicated driver will be on hand to provide a comfortable transfer to Villa Maya, your residence for the next two nights. Nestled within a private nature reserve along the shores of the Petenchel and Monifata lagoons, Villa Maya offers a serene retreat amidst lush tropical surroundings.

Travel to Belize. Chocolate Tour

Today you will head to Belize, a destination full of activities and memories to be created.

After breakfast you will be collected from your hotel and taken to the Belize Western Border. Once you have completed the immigration process you will be met by your guide on the other side who will transfer you to your accommodation where you will stay for the next four nights.

Before reaching your final destination, you’ll indulge in a hands-on chocolate-making experience. This immersive activity offers insight into the traditional methods of cacao cultivation and chocolate production, providing a deeper appreciation for this ancient craft. At Cheil Chocolate factory you can  immerse yourself in the ancient Maya culture. Get involved in the process of making chocolate and taste your produce before completing your trip to Placencia.

Silk Caye Snorkel

Today you will experience your first adventure in Belize.

After breakfast you will be picked up by your snorkeling guide and transferred to Silk Caye.

Silk Caye is a part of the Meso – American barrier reef, which is the largest barrier reef in the Western  Hemisphere. This is a wonderful location to snorkel amidst Belize’s wide ecosystem of exotic marine life  which thrives within the colourful coral formations, such as Parrot fish, Barracudas, nurse sharks, eagle  rays, turtles and many more. Lunch is served between the 2 snorkels at Silk Caye and after the 2nd snorkel the group will return to Placencia.

Leisure Day

Today is a day at leisure!

Grab a book, sit by the beach and relax hearing the calm, crushing waves or  perhaps take a visit to the centre of Placencia where you will find the world’s narrowest main street, this 4,071-foot-long and 4-foot-wide pathway is lined with colourful shops, cafes, and art galleries.

Culture Tour

After breakfast you will check out of your accommodation before you are collected by your guide to visit the small village of Hopkins where you will immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Garinagu Community that has been living peacefully in Belize since November 1832.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant heritage of the Garinagu people,stroll through the village’s sandy streets, where colourful wooden homes and palm trees set a laid-back coastal scene. Engage with local artisans, learning traditional drumming rhythms, dance moves, and the art of making cassava bread—a staple of Garifuna cuisine.

As the rhythmic beat of the drums fills the air, you’ll gain insight into the rich history, language, and customs of this Afro-Indigenous community. With its welcoming locals, soulful music, and authentic experiences, this tour offers a captivating glimpse into Belize’s living culture.

Shared Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley

It’s Island time! The only way to enjoy a perfect island time is snorkeling and there is no better place to do it than Hol Chan & Shark Ray alley. Nestled approximately 5 miles South from the Ramon’s Village Resort, embark on a 20-minute boat ride to the Hol Chan Marine Reserve.

*Join your Marine guide for your snorkel to witness the countless Marine creatures that exist between the channel that separates them from the Caribbean Sea and Belize’s Inner Channel.

After your snorkel, you will make your way to Shark Ray Alley, this unique spot offers an up-close encounter with nurse sharks and stingrays in their natural habitat, making it an unforgettable experience for snorkellers and divers alike.

Shark Ray Alley is a protected marine area within the Hol Chan Marine Reserve, ensuring that these marine creatures and their ecosystem remain safe and undisturbed.

Departure Day

After breakfast this morning you will check out and be transported from the resort to San Pedro’s Water Taxi where you will catch a ferry to Belize City.

Here you will meet your driver who will transfer you to Belize International Airport for your flight home.
