Your amazing Belize adventure begins in the Jungle Retreat surrounded by nature – enjoy the wildlife spotting, birdwatching, and serene river views.

Experience time with the San Antonio Women’s Group learning about their traditional methods for everyday activities. Afterwards visit Xunantunich, an ancient Maya city with stunning views from El Castillo.

Canoe through Barton Creek Cave, which is only accessible by canoe, this cave offers a peaceful yet adventurous experience as you paddle through ancient passageways illuminated by headlamps. Visit the butterfly farm where you can see vibrant tropical species up close and learn about their life cycle.

Enjoy an interactive chocolate-making tour, Belize has a deep-rooted Maya chocolate-making tradition – gain an insight into the Maya heritage behind this “food of the gods.”

For a cultural experience, the village of Hopkins welcomes visitors with the warmth of the Garifuna people, drumming rhythms, and fresh seafood dishes.

Arrival into Belize

On arrival in Belize you will be met and transferred to your accommodation, this will be a land and a boat transfer.

Spend the rest of the day relaxing and exploring your surroundings. Your intimate, award-winning lodge is situated on the banks of a remote jungle lake amid the remnants of the Mayan City of Lamanai. The lodge is surrounded by broadleaf forests, pine savannahs, farmlands & vast wetlands for a captivating blend of cultural & nature-based adventures.

Activities

Over the next couple of days enjoy activities such as:

Sunrise Canoeing
Meet your guide for dawn coffee, muffins & juice before canoeing across the Lagoon to explore Dawson’s Creek and the adjoining wetlands. Keep an eye out for Manatees, otters, crocodiles, Jesus Christ lizards, kingfishers & endemic parrots. You will be back at the lodge in time for breakfast. A professional canoeist will accompany those who need help with the paddling.

Jungle Dawn
Explore the jungle trails with an expert naturalist as nature awakes. Learn about a habitat that is home to the Agouti, black howler monkey, Leaf Cutter Ant, long nosed quash & Keel Billed Toucan. Meet for dawn with coffee and muffins – back to lodge for breakfast.

Maya Jungle Medicine and Village Life Experience
Indigenous people have long relied upon a variety of local plants for their powerful medicinal properties. Learn firsthand how basic potions and salves are used to this day in Belize’s rural villages. Tour the village of Indian Church before stopping at a small women’s cooperative to assist with the preparation of a Traditional Maya Lunch. This tour departs after breakfast and returns to the lodge a little after lunch.

Sunset Cocktail Cruise
Nature watching with cocktails aboard a 30 foot pontoon boat as the Sun Slips Below the Treetops. Cocktails, drinks and chips are included. This experience departs in the late-afternoon and returns in time for dinner.

Whilst staying in Lamanai Outpost Lodge you will have the opportunity to enjoy two experiences per day – your local guide will discuss the options with you on arrival.

Travel to Caye Caulker

Today you will depart to your next location.

After breakfast, you will be transferred by shuttle to Belize International Airport and from here you will be met by a representative and transferred to Belize City Water Taxi.

You will embark onto the ferry that will then transport you to Caye Caulker which is a 45 minute boat ride.

On arrival at Caye Caulker dock, a driver will be waiting to transfer you to Iguana Reef Inn where you will spend the next three nights, and have the opportunity to discover the idyllic, island lifestyle of Caye Caulker. Located just a mile from the Belize barrier reef, it is an ideal location for spectacular diving, snorkeling, fishing and sailing and, after your days of exploration, relaxing in the freshwater swimming pool.

Your hotel  blends casual elegance with barefoot informality. Located on the water’s edge, the Inn is in the heart of a charming fishing village, offering upscale accommodations and the enchantment of the “Old Caribbean†island lifestyle.

Shared Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley

It’s Island time!

The only way to enjoy a perfect island time is snorkeling and there is no better place to do it than Hol Chan & Shark Ray alley. You will be met at the hotel by your guide before embarking on a 20-minute boat ride to the Hol Chan Marine Reserve. *Join your Marine guide for your snorkel to witness the countless Marine creatures that exist between the channel that separates them from the Caribbean Sea and Belize’s Inner Channel.

After your snorkel, you will make your way to Shark Ray Alley, this unique spot offers an up-close encounter with nurse sharks and stingrays in their natural habitat, making it an unforgettable experience for snorkelers and divers alike.

Shark Ray Alley is a protected marine area within the Hol Chan Marine Reserve, ensuring that the marine creatures and their ecosystem remain safe and undisturbed.

Today is for you to enjoy at your leisure, grab a book, relax by the beach or take a walk around the small caye, speak with locals and enjoy the local Belizean cuisine.

Depart from Caye Caulker

Today you will depart Caye Caulker and venture to the Belize mainland.

You will catch a ferry to Belize City and then be transferred to your accommodation where you will stay for the next four nights.

You can experience total immersion in nature at Black Rock Lodge, nestled in the dense rainforest on the banks of the Macal River, flowing through the Maya Mountains of Belize. The boutique hotel has twenty restful, cheerfully-decorated cabins, with en-suite bathrooms, veranda hammocks, and unique views of the stunning natural surroundings for perfect jungle relaxation. A network of hiking trails, a staff of expert guides, and a true commitment to protecting the environment make this a haven for curious, adventurous travellers.

San Antonio Women’s Group Tour and Maya Site Ruins

Today enjoy a cultural tour of San Antonio Women’s Group to learn about traditional methods for everyday activities that they have learnt from past generations and still preserve and showcase these skills, such as making ceramics by hand, they will demonstrate how this is done using the “coil method†and you will be able to try creating something of your own.

Immerse yourself in traditional Belize cuisine as you help to prepare your lunch; learn to make corn tortillas on a traditional fire hearth. Hear about the process of grinding the fresh corn and transforming it into the “masa†or dough that you will be forming into the tortillas.

While the local women finish preparing lunch, enjoy a walk through the property and learn about the sustainable processes used to fire the ceramic kilns and sustain the organic gardens.

Enjoy your specially prepared meal starting with warm Atole, followed by roasted chicken pieces, fresh hand-made salsa and your recently prepared corn tortillas.

After the tour you will depart to the Mayan Ruin to view one of Belize’s most awe-inspiring Maya archaeological sites, Xunantunich Maya Site is perched on top of a limestone ridge overlooking the Mopan River in San Jose Succotz Village.

To reach to the site, you will take a short ferry ride to cross the Mopan River followed by a short drive to the main entrance. The
center is composed of six major plazas surrounded by more than 25 temples and palaces. Its crowning jewel, El Castillo, rises 130 feet, making it the second-tallest structure in the country. From its summit, breathtaking panoramic views stretch across the lush jungle canopy and into neighboring Guatemala. As you explore the site, you’ll wander through plazas, ball courts, and ancient temples adorned with intricate friezes and hieroglyphics. The site’s name, meaning “Stone Woman†in Maya, comes from the legend of a ghostly figure said to haunt the ruins. With its towering pyramids, mystical energy, and stunning scenery, Xunantunich offers a mesmerizing glimpse into Belize’s ancient past.

After your visit you will be transferred back to your accommodation.

Leisure Day

Today is free to spend as you wish, indulge in what the Black Rock has to offer from complimentary yoga mats for those who wish to practice yoga on the palapa, canoeing, kayaking and river tubing on the Macal River, and hiking in the miles of trails that the 250 acres of property has to offer with the surroundings and view the wildlife. At Black Rock Lodge you will be surrounded by some of Belize’s most remarkable and rare species of birds, at any time of day, often with the help of guides, you will witness a wide range of these majestic feathered creatures. You can take a guided hike ion the Don Elijio Panti National Park, or a night hike in the jungle where you can spot nocturnal species like owls, foxes and red eyed tree frogs for a completely different experience! You can cool off in the spring fed relaxation pool, or take a dip in the river.

Barton Creek Canoeing with Butterfly Farm and Chocolate Making Tour

Today you will visit Barton Creek Cave, hidden in the Jungle,  Barton Creek cave is a breathtaking subterranean wonder, where crystal-clear waters flow through towering limestone passages. Accessible only by canoe, the journey takes you deep into the ancient Maya underworld, known as Xibalba. As you paddle through the cave’s shadowy chambers, you’ll marvel at dramatic stalactites, cathedral-like caverns, and glittering rock formations illuminated by your headlamp.

Ancient Maya artifacts, including ceremonial pottery and skeletal remains, lie preserved along the rocky ledges, offering a haunting glimpse into sacred rituals once performed here. With its serene beauty and eerie mystique, Barton Creek Cave is an unforgettable blend of adventure and history.

After exploring the cave, enjoy a local lunch with your tour guide before heading on a short drive to Green Hill Butterfly Farm, a vibrant sanctuary where thousands of brilliantly coloured butterflies flutter in a tropical paradise. As you wander through the expansive flight area, you’ll be surrounded by delicate Blue Morphos, striking Owl Butterflies, and radiant Julia Heliconians, their iridescent wings catching the sunlight.

The farm also features a meticulously maintained botanical garden, where exotic plants and hummingbirds add to the enchanting atmosphere. With its dazzling display of butterflies and serene natural setting, Green Hills offers a magical, up-close encounter with Belize’s delicate winged wonders.

Your final experience of the day is  a chocolate making session at Ajaw Chocolate. Step into the rich heritage of Belize where you’ll experience the ancient Maya art of chocolate-making. Set in a rustic, open-air setting, the tour begins with the roasting and grinding of organic cacao beans using traditional stone tools. As the rich, earthy aroma fills the air, you’ll learn about the cultural and spiritual significance of cacao to the Maya civilization.

After breakfast you will check out of the Black Rock Lodge before you are collected by your guide to visit the small village of Hopkins where you will immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Garinagu Community that has been living peacefully in Belize since November 1832.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant heritage of the Garinagu people,stroll through the village’s sandy streets, where colourful wooden homes and palm trees set a laid-back coastal scene. Engage with local artisans, learning traditional drumming rhythms, dance moves, and the art of making cassava bread—a staple of Garifuna cuisine.

As the rhythmic beat of the drums fills the air, you’ll gain insight into the rich history, language, and customs of this Afro-Indigenous community. With its welcoming locals, soulful music, and authentic experiences, this tour offers a captivating glimpse into Belize’s living culture.

Silk Caye Snorkel

When in Belize and staying by the beach then it is a must that you do a snorkelling excursion*.

So, today after breakfast you will be collected by your guide for an amazing snorkelling adventure, sure to be a highlight of your trip. Float above the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Silk Caye, a tiny, picture-perfect island surrounded by the Belize Barrier Reef. As you glide through the vibrant coral gardens, you’ll encounter a dazzling array of marine life, from graceful sea turtles and playful rays to schools of shimmering tropical fish.

Just beyond the reef’s edge, you may even spot nurse sharks and barracudas gliding through the depths. With its pristine waters, colorful corals, and abundant sea life, snorkeling at Silk Caye offers an unforgettable glimpse into Belize’s underwater wonderland.

Today is a relaxation day,

Spend a blissful day relaxing by the golden beach and swaying palms, setting the scene for pure relaxation. Stroll along the narrow, colourful village boardwalk of Placencia,  dotted with quaint cafés, artisan shops, and beach bars. Sink your toes into the soft, sun-warmed sand as you lounge by the shore, sipping a cool rum punch.

For a touch of adventure, take a leisurely kayak or paddleboard ride along the calm, azure waters. As the sun sets, enjoy a seafood dinner at a beachside restaurant, and for the last time on this holiday listen to the rhythmic waves and feel  the touch of the warm sea breeze, creating a perfect Caribbean evening.
