Get right off the beaten track in the Azores and combine a hike on one of the most beautiful trails on the island of São Miguel with a visit to the lesser-visited but incredibly beautiful north-east side.
Start the day by being met in Ponta Delgada by your guide at around 9 am, then head in the direction of Faial da Terra.
Once there, you’ll complete the circular trail that encompasses the hidden mountain village of Sanguinho, on one of the most iconic routes on the island. You’ll also have the chance to cool off under the cascade of Salto do Prego, a picturesque waterfall that plunges into a cool lagoon.
Once you’ve completed the trail, you’ll stop off to soak up the laid back atmosphere in Faial da Terra, as well as taking in the whaling port before you start the second part of the tour.
Your guide will now make the best possible use of their local knowledge, taking you to the most spectacular viewpoints on this stunning side of the island. Expect panoramas of mountains, forest and oceans.
You’ll stop at da Ponta do Sossego, the spellbinding village of Nordeste and finally the majestic waterfall of Ribeira dos Caldeirões, before you head back to Ponta Delgada to finish a full day of exploring.
