What You'll Do

Gaze at mesmerising waterfalls, hike to mountain summits for sweeping panoramic views, and understand local traditions, discover secret spots and learn about the native wildlife from your guides on a full-day tour of the Peneda-Gerês National Park from Porto.

At around 9am, you’ll be picked up from your accommodation in Porto and driven deep into Portuguese backcountry, far from any tourist gloss and busy streets, to Portugal’s only national park.

Peneda-Gerês National Park is a living museum. A swathe of fragrant pine forest draped over huge granite massifs, secret peaks offering beautiful views, tumbledown granite villages nestled in one of Europe’s last remaining true wildernesses, it’s a must-see on your trip to Northern Portugal.

Your guides will take you to some of the most remote and beautiful spots in the park, using their local knowledge to show you places like the Pedra Bela Viewpoint, a spot that gives you a sweeping view over the entire landscape.

Hike through 12th-century granite villages, virtually unchanged since their construction, past bubbling streams and to secluded, cascading waterfalls for a refreshing dip in the cool waters.

Enjoy a picnic deep within the park, surrounded by the tranquil atmosphere where only the whispering pine branches and countless birds make a sound.

Discover magnificent waterfalls and rivers cutting through the landscape

Swim in therapeutically cold lagoons and under stunning cascades of water

Enjoy the ultimate lookout point from the vantage of Pedra Bela

Pedro Urgel

Born and raised in the delightful city of Porto, apart from a two year stint living in Scotland in my younger days, I have lived in Portugal all my life. When I was around 35, myself and a couple of my travelling friends (one of which is my brother), decided to set up our company. We set out scouting Portugal, visiting the places no one visits, meeting people, exploring landscapes discovering all these authentic towns. We know the country like the back of our hands, so when you go on one of our experiences you get an experts insight and learn so much more than you would visiting alone.
