Take a spectacular break staying for two nights in the unique Snow Hotel in the snowy forest landscape, and two nights in the heart of Kirkenes. Embrace the iconic aurora borealis, adventure through the pristine wilderness by husky and snow mobile, and learn about Kirkene culture.

Experience the highlights of North Norway on this unforgettable trip.

Adventure through the Nordic forests by husky sled and hunt for the northern lights. You will experience 10km of beautiful arctic landscapes, fjord ice and true wilderness.

Experience the  Kikenes way of life during an authentic home visit to a local family.

Adventure into the wilderness by snowmobile and catch king crabs in true Nordic style. Explore the Siberian Taiga forest in Pasvik on a guided tour before enjoying your very own catch in a blissful lavvo ( Sami tent)

Accommodation:

You will be staying in the stunning Kirkenes Snow Hotel in a Gamme Northern Light Cabin for two nights and Thon Hotel for two nights.

The Gamme Northern Lights Cabins are inspired by the traditional hunting and fishing hut, called “gamme”,which are found in the wilderness of Lapland – the Sami areas of the Arctic.

The Thon Hotel is a stylish hotel perched on the quay in central Kirkenes, with wonderful unobstructed views of the fjord.

Welcome to Kirkenes

You will be picked up at the airport and driven to your accommodation, the unique Kirkenes Snow Hotel.

Snow Hotel is  situated 8km outside Kirkenes in the secluded wilds of Northern Norway and here you will find the true sense of arctic wilderness.​ The hotel is an experience in itself, there are beautiful Gamme cabins made of wood, and of course the ice rooms which are made only of snow and ice!

Here you will not stay in the ice room – but in a cosy and warm cabin with a large arched window allowing you to see the northern lights from the comfort of your room!

There is the opportunity to visit the amazing ice rooms, and to have a drink in the ice bar at this stunning hotel before retiring to your cosy cabin with twin beds or double bed, ensuite shower room and large panoramic window.

Northern light Hunting by Husky sled

Today you will have the chance to experience the awe-inspiring northern lights whilst being driven across a stunning white landscape by husky sled.

Take in arctic forest wilderness and fjord ice over your 10km journey that will last around 2 hours.

The experience will be intimate with only 2 people per sled with a short breakin the middle  of the trail to rest the beautiful huskies.

Kirkenes Local Home Visit

Today you will check out of the snow hotel and transfer to the centre of Kirkenes and the stylish Thon hotel.

You will have the opportunity to have a true authentic experience and meet a family in their home.

Kirkenes is an interesting place, in terms of geography, culture and history. The Kirkenes district has only 10, 000 people in an area the size of a small country, and the reindeer population out numbers the people!

Through this visit you will have the chance to see experience Northern culture and discuss the Norwegian lifestyle with your host. Take the unique opportunity to ask questions and learn about the culture and everyday life in the north (there is a local charge for the transport to the home). The visit will last around one and a half hours

Crab Safari by Snowmobile

Today you will go on a fishing trip to catch your very own king crabs in true Nordic style!

While the crabs are being cooked you will drive by snowmobile on the Langfjord towards the Siberian Taiga forest in Pasvik on a guided tour.

After your snow mobile ride you will visit a lavvo, an authentic temporary dwelling traditionally used by the Sami people, similar to a tipi. Enjoy your freshly caught king crabs and drink a glass of white wine alongside your meal.

The trip will be approximately 3.5 hours.

Location

Your unique North Norway trip will begin at the Snow Hotel Kirkenes,  situated 8km outside Kirkenes in the secluded wilds of Northern Norway.

The huskies excitedly await your arrival and you will see reindeer grazing in the grounds, behind the cabins. This idyllic location is where you will have a great chance to witness the vibrant green and pink hues of the northern lights, then you will stay for two nights in the heart of Kirkenes, experience local life and fish for your own king crab!

FAQs

What clothing should I bring?

The temperature will be very low and you will be walking in snow, and so warm layers, a waterproof jacket and boots are recommended and a warm hat and gloves. Thermal overalls, gloves and boots will be provided for the husky, snowmobile and king crab fishing activities.
