What you'll do

Sample Roman cuisine as it should be, like the locals, as you enjoy the most incredible dishes the city can serve up in authentic venues, off the usual tourist track.

You’ll start your journey from the iconic Tiber Island, then travel through the atmospheric streets of the old Jewish Ghetto to taste the famous Jewish artichokes of Rome, as well as other specialties, whilst learning how the famous ghetto evolved over the centuries.

Then you’ll make our way to the stunning Campo de’ Fiori, one of the oldest squares in Rome and a mish-mash of blocks rising around the sunny, rectangular piazza, for some more food like the deliciously oozing supplì and Rome’s legendary pizza.

Next, you’ll head over the deep, quiet Tiber River to discover one of Rome’s best-kept secrets: Trastevere, a charming neighborhood of ivy-clad buildings and narrow, cobblestone streets. Small cafes and hip wine bars line the winding alleys, and locals relax sipping espresso as they watch the world go by.

You will wander through the idyllic lanes of the historical city center with a local Roman guide who will help you pick out the very best Italian delights.

You will try typical Italian pizza, pasta, salami, cheese, and other local dishes, and finish off the evening with a legendary Italian gelato. You’ll also enjoy some of Italy’s best wines to complete this truly authentic Italian experience.

This tour also gives you the opportunity to pick the brains of our expert foodie guide in order to gain a better understanding of Italian culture and traditions. You’ll also experience life as the Romans do on a typical evening out, soaking up the buzz of the crowds at lively wine bars and atmospheric, alfresco restaurant tables.

My husband and I, along with our adult daughter, did a private walking food tour. It was amazing. Sara, our guide, was very personable and expertly introduced us to a delicious variety of local favorites. We tasted the fried artichokes in the Jewish Ghetto (amazing), pizzas, cheeses, fried cod, and meats. We ended up at a Trastevere restaurant for a meal of capers salad, prosciutto, and melon, cacio e Pepe, and tripe. Wine was included at some of the stops. What a great way to learn about various areas of Rome, culture, and history through food! Loved this tour!
