Considering this national park is only 30 minutes north of Costa Rica’s gritty capital, San Jose, it’s somewhat a surprising that this massive area of tangled, steaming jungle, cascading waterfalls and dramatic canyons is almost entirely untouched.
The fact that it climbs almost 3000 metres, from the warm sea air of the Caribbean coast to the dripping humidity of the cloud forest, means that there’s an incredible amount of biodiversity packed into this magnificent national park, and an awful lot for nature lovers to get their teeth stuck in to.
