Coronavirus (Covid-19): Our Approach

Everyone without exception is being affected by this pandemic.  But I think it is important to remember that it’s the local people that makes our business.  We work  with local people running small local businesses whose livelihood has stopped completely while the world stands still.

We are trying hard to support our partners so that they will still be there to provide the amazing experiences they offer when the world starts moving again – and it will.

The kindest thing travellers can do is to postpone  their holiday where ever possible so that our local partners, having no source of income at the moment, can look forward to providing a warm welcome to you in the near future.

And until that time we are keeping in close touch with all our partners and those local hosts around the world to keep us connected.

Stay Home. Stay Connected

I would like to notify you of our approach to the Covid-19 situation and resulting changes to our terms and conditions over this period.

Change your booking date  at any time without incurring any Not In The Guidebook fees

For all day experiences, our terms and conditions remain the same – free cancellation 2 weeks in advance – between 7 days and 14 days there will be a 25% local cancellation charge. Between 48 hours and 7 days a 50% cancellation fee, and any cancellations within 48 hours result in us paying 100% of the fee.

For all multi-day experiences booked after 5th March

Our terms and conditions are dependant upon the advice of the UK Travel Advice Organisation.

If the advice from the FCO is not to travel to an area and the customer cancels more than 8 week before the departure date, we will look to offer the option to move your holiday to later in the year or next year at no charge and if that is not possible we will REFUND YOU less the 20% deposit. If it is within 8 weeks we will work with our local provider to move your booking to a later period and, if that is not possible you will forfeit the local providers cancellation charges and / or non-refundable components for which we advise you to speak to your travel insurance providers.

If the FCO (UK Travel Advice Organisation) do not advise against travel to the area in question, in other words if they advise that travel to this area is safe and you still wish to cancel and it is more than 8 weeks before the holiday date, we will first look to move your booking to a later date and if this is not possible you will lose the deposit of 20% paid to our partners during this period.  If you cancel within 8 weeks of the start of your holiday, we will seek to move your booking to a later period and, again, if that is not possible you will forfeit amount for the experience/holiday that the local supplier charges.

If, however, the supplier cancels without FCO or WHO ruling (ie we are told it is safe to travel) then we will REFUND THE FULL AMOUNT PAID, back to you.

For all multi-day experiences booked before 5th March
