You’ll also have the chance to catch up with the other guests during the group brunches and dinners – all delicious vegetarian food created by the onsite nutritionist and chef.

There is a range of accommodation options to suit all budgets, each one specifically designed to have minimal impact on the surrounding environment. You can choose whether you would prefer to indulge in your own private space or share with another solo traveller of the same sex to keep costs down.

2. Yoga & Meditation by the Coast in Portugal

This gorgeous coastal region of Portugal is not to be missed for any lover of nature and the great outdoors. It’s the perfect location for a rejuvenating yoga holiday, tucked away near the seaside village of Azenhas do Mar and Sintra National Park, yet only 40 minutes from Lisbon airport.

The retreat is run by passionate yogis and surfers, Patricia and Zarqa, who’ll lead you through great yoga and meditation sessions (Vinyasa flow in the mornings and Hatha in the evenings) as well as prepare great nutritious food for you. And if you crave some adventure, why not add on a surf lesson or two while you are there?

There’s no better place to step back and reconnect both personally and with nature than Montezuma in Costa Rica.

Morning yoga sessions on the beach will leave you energised for the day ahead, whereas the evening sunset sessions will help you to relax and restore. All with the Costa Rican coast and jungle as your backdrop.

This holiday tends to attract female solo travellers over 30 but everyone is more than welcome to join.

Accommodation is set in a spacious beach lodge, with access to a swimming pool, hammocks, and, of course, the ocean. You can choose to share a room with another solo traveller or upgrade to your own private one.

4. Yoga Holiday in the Italian Hills

Based in the pretty hilltop village of Casperia just 1 hour north of Rome, is this eco-friendly yoga retreat. You’ll practice Hatha yoga daily in a fun and friendly environment and slow down to the pace of Italian village life in the Sabina Mountains.

This holiday is always a popular choice with our solo travellers as you can also add fun activities such as cooking, horse riding and cycling to your day, to really make the most of your time in Italy.

Run by Lucy, a Hatha yoga teacher and her Italian husband Alan, a local of Casperia, this yoga retreat supports the rural community of the Sabina Hills bringing tourism, creating jobs and supporting local businesses to enhance the village economy.
