This is the perfect place for a long weekend of running, relaxing and escaping the speed of everyday life, moving at your own pace and taking in striking scenery.

Here, where rolling foothills lead to dramatic ridges, the Brecon Beacons and the neighbouring Black Mountains are the heartland of Wales and the perfect backdrop for a long weekend break away from the bustle. Steeped in a rich history of lore, you’ll explore trails traversed by folk of a time gone by. Rivers and waterfalls cut through the rock faces, while heather-clad meadows give the hilltops their purple hue.

This is the perfect break to get yourself onto a healthy track with like minded people, and stunning, quiet, rural scenes surrounding you.

Experience Itinerary

Arrival day

Arrive and settle in to the lovely cottage located within easy reach of Crickhowell. Meet the team and guests over an evening meal and get ready for the next exciting day.

You’ll be staying in a twin shared room  in a cottage or farmhouse with great outdoor space and modern comforts. Regardless of where you’re staying, expect some great trails right on your doorstep. As the exact accommodation is dependent on how many are on the retreat, the exact address will be sent to you at a later time.

Run and relaxation

Wake early to a healthy breakfast before warming up, stretching and heading out on the longest run you’ll undertake (approx. 4hrs) this weekend. From the house there is a small amount of road to navigate before you’re in the hills for the day. Through woodland, fields and up on ridge-lines the fantastic route has a bit of everything. Expect great views and varied trails all carefully planned. Back at home, refuel with lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring this amazing area. You’ll all reconvene over a relaxing dinner.

Run and relaxation

After breakfast and a warm up, head out on a shorter run (approx 3hrs). The terrain will be similar as the day before, but will be a completely different route to explore. After lunch, join in on an optional stretch & strength or a yoga class will be available (approx.45 min). If you prefer, just unwind ahead of the evening meal.

Departure day

Wake up refreshed for a quick stretch and easy morning run (1hr) before you set off for your journey – or treat yourself to an extra hour or two in bed. You’ll share breakfast together before heading off feeling great!

With two National Trails and a National Park, Brecon Beacons is ideal for walking, running, thinking, or just simply being outdoors. You’ll be staying in a traditional country house has trail heads right on the doorstep – perfect for a weekend of runs and relaxing.

Fly:
Directly to Cardiff Airport or Bristol Airport. Routes are served by a selection of international and budget airlines including Ryanair, Wizz Air and Easyjet. A host of car rental companies are available at good value prices.

Drive:
Cardiff - Brecon (1hr)
Bristol - Brecon (2hrs)

We recommend car sharing where possible and are able to put you in touch with fellow guests should you wish to do this.

The trail runs are expertly guided throughout. Rest assured, your guide is an experienced ultra-marathon runner and Qualified Leader & Outdoor First Aider.

This is a small group with a maximum of 8 people. It runs with a minimum of 4 people.
