Inspiring and exciting – Internship at NotInTheGuideBooksand Vidados
After graduating with a Sports and Exercise Science Degree last July, I got to a point reached by a lot of other graduates: What next? I knew I wanted to work in business but was looking for experience. After holidays spent travelling, I came back in London, ready for an internship that I hoped would guide me in my future career plan.
Never have I been so right. The position advertised corresponded exactly to what I was looking for: A first insight into the business world in an exciting industry and the possibility to be involved in a start-up, Vidados. At NotInTheGuidBooks.com, I was trained in various tasks including administration and customer services and learnt about the company and the industry a little bit more every day with very helpful colleagues ready to answer all my questions.
Jane (The number 1 tea addict of the office) asked me on my last day what has been my favourite thing during my internship and now the answer is very clear: being involved in Vidados. I arrived at an exciting time when the new site was about to be launched. It was so impressive to see the website changing and growing every day and the whole team – the web developer, the product manager, the marketing manager and of course Vanessa the CEO – working together to create this modern travel marketplace. My main role was to check the new trips uploaded on the website and to communicate with sellers in order to make sure all the information was correct before setting the trips live. I learnt so much and I am so grateful to have had this experience in an innovative project with such an incredible team.
I have been inspired not only on a professional level, as I have decided to pursue a Master in International Business but also on a personal level as I am embarking on a backpacking adventure in Australia next week! Thank you to everyone for this amazing experience, and see you at Karaoke night (I am taking this week to practice my Beyonce moves).
