Mojo Workshop and Wine Tasting
Bodegas Monje, one of Spains finest, local wine producers, with its views of El Teide, sits proudly in the rolling countryside of La Hollera, north of Tenerife. Since 1750, the Monje family have been producing wine and now, the fifth generation are at the helm.
On this experience, with the winery's renowned chef, you'll learn to make the traditional sauce, Mojo Pícon, you'll take part in a guided tour of the historic winery learning about the authentic methods and techniques used, have a lunch of some of the regions finest local produce and then of course taste some of the Monje family's finest wine.
One of Spain’s gastronomic marvels, the Mojo Pícon sauce is traditional to the Canary Islands and can be red or green; made using coriander, parsley or pumpkin. Using the chef’s expert knowledge, you’ll be guided through the steps so that you can prepare the most delicious flavour.
Lunch includes: Freshly baked bread with a selection of spreads (Watercress butter, spiced goats cheese and chorizo perro) and thinly sliced cheese on toasted bread followed by shoulder of roast pork cooked in our firewood oven * accompanied by sweet vegetables, almond mojo, Canarian potatoes and a lettuce and onion salad dressed in Monje Macho vinegar. Dessert: Canarian cream with Hollera Jam. This menu also includes coffee or tea and three glasses of young wine.
