The unspoilt region of Aragon in the Spanish Pyrenees, known for its gorgeous landscapes and rich history, will be the setting of this 7 night / 8 day Spanish language and walking holiday. Nestled in the valley of the river Ara, you will find the beautifully restored 17th-century farmhouse which will act as your starting point for all cultural excursions as well as your beautiful classroom for some of your Spanish lessons.
This tranquil location sets the scene for several incredible cultural walks through the region to the nearby National Park and various medieval and charming villages in the area. Then, you’ll be able to take a break from walking in the on-site, modern classroom for Spanish lessons aimed at improving elementary and intermediate level Spanish.
With 5 Spanish lessons throughout the course of your stay, you will have the opportunity to improve your skills and test them on excursions to nearby villages, markets, and restaurants. Explain the subtleties of wine using vocabulary from your lessons and haggle prices at a local market while getting to know locals and conversing in their native language. Some classes take place at the farmhouse while others happen out in nature and in the villages for a fun, refreshing setting for your learning.
No visit to the region would be complete without picturesque views and the chance to fully appreciate the natural beauty of the area. Picnic in a valley full of diverse fauna next to the medieval bridge of San Nicolas, and stop at the gateway to the National Park of Ordesa. Dramatic views and a 4×4 excursion to the five viewpoints above the gorgeous Canyon of Ordesa await you, with a Spanish speaking local guide there to explain the unique history of the geological landforms of the area for you.
On top of all of that, you will get the chance to tour a local’s personal home and traditional Aragonese kitchen, enjoy a wine tasting in a medieval village, and potentially catch a glimpse of the region’s famous Bearded Vulture. Close encounters with the locals allow you to understand what life in this quiet region is truly like.
During your course, stay in a gorgeously renovated 17th-century farmhouse in any of its 7 guest rooms, complete with a wonderful view of the surrounding grounds or mountains. Each room has a private en-suite bathroom and various other modern amenities. The grounds include a vegetable patch used to cook your meals, beautiful gardens, and a courtyard with a library and small gym, the ideal place to unwind and immerse yourself in the local culture.
