Get ready for a gastronomic adventure on this private Madrid market tour, strolling with your own private tour guide who will pick you up on foot from your hotel. As you stroll through the neighbourhoods of Madrid towards the first market, your private tour guide (and local food lover!) will give you an introduction to Madrid’s food culture and social history which shaped the city in the past. He will quickly reveal the truth behind the saying “we are what we eat!”.

Learn about the Spanish markets and local food stores which are still a major source of fresh food, fish, fruit, cheese and bread which make up the Spanish diet. Learn why Madrid has 46 municipal markets that are the hub of this food-loving city and hear how simple staples, such as bread, are transformed when mixed with a little quality olive oil. Our team is as local as it can get. Although we collectively speak 5 languages, all of our guides are Madrid and/or Spanish born. There is one exception, which proves the rule, our Russian guide, who nevertheless has been españolized. We are united by a common passion for Madrid and inexhaustible depth of Spanish culture. We keep resisting the "cheese" of mass tourism and choose to create personalized and tailor-made experiences and private tours for our visitors.

Location Information

Madrid, Spain’s central capital, is a city of elegant boulevards and expansive, manicured parks such as the Buen Retiro. It’s renowned for its rich repositories of European art, including the Prado Museum’s works by Goya, Velázquez and other Spanish masters.

This tour will take place around Madrid city. Your guide will meet you at your hotel lobby or at the entrance to your apartment building. In some cases a metro ticket is provided from your hotel to the starting point of your tour. This is a walking tour, the pick up service is on foot, not by car.
