Gourmet Cooking Class & Market Tour

What You'll Do

Join a professional culinary expert on a tour of one of Madrid's most iconic markets, then embark on a cooking class where you'll learn how to make the most authentic Spanish dishes with the freshest possible ingredients.

Enjoy one of the most exclusive cooking classes in Madrid and take advantage of this true VIP experience to truly understand Spanish cuisine, from market to table.

First, we will take a walking tour through the Mercado de San Miguel, an authentic market where you will find all the essential ingredients for Spanish cuisine. You’ll see how to identify the freshest ingredients, learn when certain products are in season, and find out what you need to buy to create the secret bases of classic Spanish dishes.

We will also stop to enjoy a glass of Albariño and taste oyster and seafood in the historic, beautiful market, which is an architectural attraction in itself.

Then, come and cook our delicious, unique Spanish cuisine with us. We’ll head to our exclusive workshop in the city, offering the perfect setting to learn how to cook like a true local.

You will cook four traditional dishes, ranging from the popular paella and potato omelette to local lesser-known, specialist delicacies. You’ll learn how to combine flavours, perfect the cooking process and use all the best ingredients that only the locals know how to combine.

The private cooking classes are provided by an expert culinary guide and an English-speaking professional chef from Madrid. Together we will prepare an amazing menu, accompanied by a free bar of unlimited drinks.

Finally, all that is left is to sit down to enjoy and dig into the fruits of your labour, accompanied by fine Spanish wines.

Your Local Host:

Ignasi Zarzoso

When it comes to travel and favourite places, his philosophy is 'it’s not about the place, it’s about the experience'. Ignasi does have a few favourite places though... one being his hometown of Barcelona. He has fond memories of Barcelona and would encourage anyone who visits to get lost walking in the streets - definitely the best way to discover the city. His other favourite place is Sri Lanka, having visited recently and loving that parts of the island are still virgin to mass tourism. Ignasi and his fabulous team make sure to only offer tours in small groups so that everyone’s experience is more personal. They don’t use umbrellas or microphones but instead make sure that they get to know the guests and show them the way of the local - not just the main tourist attractions. They also strive to do things differently by using more exciting ways to explore like using premium electric bikes or even offering helicopter and hot air balloon rides. The team are experienced local advisors -not large corporate tour operators. They can't wait for you to experience their city with them from a local perspective!

My wife and I, along with two of our adult children and a girlfriend attended this “class” on May 19, 2019. It was wonderful!!! Our visit began with a brief tour of the area by our very friendly guide. Then on to the class. It was on the lower level of a very nice cooking wares store. We were served sangria or wine to begin with. Our chef and her assistant made everything so easy and light hearted. Her instruction and advice was easy to follow and she was willing to go into great detail if we wanted that. To us it was instructional but more of a fun thing to do. We agreed that if one were very serious about cooking, she would still have been a wonderful instructor. And that is not just the wine and sangria talking!!!
