Montserrat Hot-Air Balloon Ride & Monastery Tour

What You'll Do

Visit the spectacular summit of Montserrat in a completely unique way, as you cruise over the Pla del Bages and the incredible needle peaks in a hot air balloon, before visiting a monastery with a thousand years' worth of stories to tell.

We begin early in the morning, heading directly to the flying zone to take part in the inflation of the balloon, before we set off on a one hour flight that takes you up close and personal with the mountain, and gives you an incredible view of the surrounding landscape.

You’ll glide serenely over one of the most spectacular landscapes in Catalonia – the unique setting of Montserrat.

At the end of the flight, a car will be waiting to pick you up and return you to the flying zone, where your guide will be waiting for you. Before we head to the Monastery, we’ll raise a toast with a glass of Cava to celebrate your flight.

Continue your visit to the famous Benedictine Monastery, dating back nearly one thousand years, and well-known for hosting the figure of “La Moreneta”, the saint patron of Catalonia. Depending on season and timetable, you may get the opportunity to witness the choir singing of the famous “Escolania de Montserrat”.

PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE PREMIUM SMALL GROUP TOURS.  PRIVATE TOURS CAN BE ACCOMMODATED ON REQUEST.

When it comes to travel and favourite places, his philosophy is 'it’s not about the place, it’s about the experience'. Ignasi does have a few favourite places though... one being his hometown of Barcelona. He has fond memories of Barcelona and would encourage anyone who visits to get lost walking in the streets - definitely the best way to discover the city. His other favourite place is Sri Lanka, having visited recently and loving that parts of the island are still virgin to mass tourism. Ignasi and his fabulous team make sure to only offer tours in small groups so that everyone’s experience is more personal. They don’t use umbrellas or microphones but instead make sure that they get to know the guests and show them the way of the local - not just the main tourist attractions. They also strive to do things differently by using more exciting ways to explore like using premium electric bikes or even offering helicopter and hot air balloon rides. The team are experienced local advisors -not large corporate tour operators. They can't wait for you to experience their city with them from a local perspective!

The tour from start to finish was very well organized and it was the best part of our trip to Barcelona. Our tour guide Stephen was extremely friendly and accommodating, he was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable on the Monserrat and surrounding areas it was contagious. The tour isn’t cheap however it’s worth every penny you are collected via meeting point driven to the hot air balloon experience and at all times Stephen kept us informed of the areas we passed on the way. We then flew in the hot air balloon with the Kon Tiki team who again were extremely professional and after landing enjoyed a small snack and glass of cava. I should add I am afraid of heights but at no time felt nervous in the basket, the flight graduated into the air so slowly and smoothly I felt very comfortable. The team emailed us photos from the ballon ride which was a nice surprise. We continued then to the Monserrat which is an unforgettable experience hidden in the surrounding mountains. We are a young couple who are not hugely religious but this tour was our favorite part of week.

I took the Hot Air Balloon and Montserrat Mountain Tour and it was great. The hot air balloon ride was very well organized and we were in the air a perfect amount of time for the full experience. Pilots and drivers were very professional and they even took some absolutely amazing photo's of us! Upon arrival we were given a little goodie bag with a juice, water, and small cookies which I thought was a very nice touch. We received a little Hot Air Balloon passport at the end of the trip signed by our pilot and had a Cava toast. Afterwards, we were driven up to the Monastery and were provided with a mini tour.
