What you'll do

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and head out on a hiking trip to Montserrat, where you'll discover breathtaking views, ancient monasteries and hidden gems far off the beaten track.

The experience begins in the upper part of Passeig de Gràcia, where we’ll set off for the natural splendour of Montserrat, Catalonia’s most symbolic mountain, topped by a Benedictine Monastery. A rugged, accessible peak with excellent trekking opportunities and incredible views, Montserrat is a wonderful place to indulge those outdoor cravings.

We’ll board the Aeri Cable Car, and enjoy the incredible natural beauty of the area. On the way to the Monastery, admire the Massif of Montserrat, a spectacular multi-peaked range of packed, unique needle-shape formations.

The results of millions of years of geological processes, these are the most immediately recognisable and iconic shapes on Catalonia’s most revered mountain.

We’ll then visit the Monastery, founded in the 10th century and still functioning to this day, and home to over 150 monks. It is also well-known for hosting the figure of La Moreneta (the dark one), who is the patron saint of Catalonia.

Your guide will bring history to life by explaining the stories and legends of this Monastery, that stretch back for nearly one thousand years.

After visiting the monastery, we’ll start a moderate trek down to reach the Masia Farmhouse with help from a local guide. During the descent, look out for the local wildlife: wild boars, goats, Bonelli eagles, and jays.

Once in the rustic, picturesque farmhouse, you will be served a delicious farm to table 3-course lunch; consisting of fresh salads and barbecued meats (vegetarian and halal available). After this full day of adventures, you will return to the center of Barcelona in your private transport.

I have fond memories of Barcelona and I would encourage anyone who visits to get lost walking in the streets, it is definitely the best way to discover th.. Read More

One shouldn't miss a side trip to Montserrat while visiting Barcelona. It's a refreshing break from the city to be able to visit the church and it's museums not to mention the views from the top.

This is a personal tour with a small10 passenger bus. There were only three of us and a private guide, Paula for the drive up and back. She also showed us around at the monestary and gave a nice history lesson. Paula is very knowledgeable. We heard the boys choir with no crowds. It’s an awesome experience to hear them sing and see them up close.
