Explore the magical New Town of Edinburgh, escaping the crowds and the tourist traps, discovering four hidden whisky bars, and getting to sample incredible varieties of the iconic Scottish drink.
Edinburgh, a city full of history, culture, and the perfect place to learn everything about the Scottish national drink – the world-famous single malt whisky. This whisky tour across the new town is an opportunity to walk away from the crowded city centre while enjoying good quality scotch in four hidden whisky venues along the way.
Although you may find some fantastic whisky bars in the old town, this part of the city has amazing places that you probably wouldn’t find on your standard tour and is a great place to explore on any activity-packed holiday in Scotland.
The first stop is in a hidden bar right in the heart of Edinburgh, famous for its great variety of world whiskies and its Victorian architecture. This is no doubt one of the coolest bars within the whole city. In this bar, you start with something nice and easy to drink to prepare your palate for what is coming afterwards.
The second stop you will be visiting a stylish cocktail bar in Edinburgh’s New Town. Although this bar doesn’t deal exclusively in whisky, their selection is outstanding.
Here, you are going to discover one of the very few distilleries in Campbeltown. A whisky region that almost died a century ago and a region that used to be the capital of whisky production for years. Today, there are only three distilleries left and you are going to explore them all while tasting one of the best Campbeltown whiskies you can find in town.
The third venue is a shadowy bar right in the middle of a very mysterious street. In this whisky bar, you will have the chance to drink one of the most traditional and well-known whiskies from the Speyside region, so prepare your palate to taste notes of honey, vanilla, caramel, and cinnamon.
Finally, head to one of the most important whisky institutions in the city of Edinburgh, with more than 400 bottles. In here you will taste one of the peaty monsters from Islay while discovering some quirky stories about the drink and other curious facts about Scotch and whiskies from around the world.
