What You'll Do

Capture the perfect evening shot of Edinburgh Castle before experimenting with long exposure to create dramatic images of the medieval city, under the guidance of a local expert who will show you some of the most photogenic spots in the city.

A three-hour private photo tour in Edinburgh. Starting with coffee to review your photography skills and customise your tour to suit your level and go over technical skills. Please note, during the summer months when the sun is setting late, it is more of an evening/ dusk tour.

From twilight into the night hours, Edinburgh takes another form. The walls seem to come alive, and shadows play with your senses, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. With a night photo tour of Edinburgh, you will capture the best of the city in the most beautiful setting. Our classic route explores the castle and alleys off the Royal Mile; or choose your own route on this private photo tour.

Whether you are starting off, a hobbyist, or have years of experience, our professional photographer will find superb photographic opportunities for all kinds of interests. Capture not just the grand landmarks, but the stream of car lights or street signs. Take advantage of the one-on-one experience of our private and personalised tour to develop your own creative vision whilst your photographer guide will offer practical tips on photographing in low light and long exposures, shooting in a variety of locations.

Each tour is crafted to the skills and needs of the participants. Apart from taking photos, you can also expect to learn:

Night photography basics

Light painting

Night portraiture – getting the most out of your flash

Long exposure light streaking – cars, boats

Reviewing your photography

Let us know if you have a particular location you want to shoot and we will work it into the itinerary.

Each tour is private, and we will not couple you with people you do not know. Feel free to bring along guests, such as other photographer friends, or your partner and family, but we ask you to limit the group to four people. This way we can work at your pace to make sure you take away the skills that last a lifetime.

When I started running photography tours for visitors to Paris, I didn't expect it would be so popular. It was something I did because I am passionate about photography, love travelling myself, and love my city, so I enjoyed the company and showing people how to get better photos of the City of Light. Some six years later, and we are now a team of 36 amazing photographers all with a passion for photography and a love of our home cities, leading photography experiences in cities across the world. We host over 1,000 photographers each year, discovering how to get the best from their camera while being shown around the highlights and less well known areas of the city by a knowledgeable, local guide and passionate professional photographer.
