What You'll Do

Take 6 nights out for yourself on this unique yoga holiday that will take you away from hectic life and let you reconnect with nature; tucked into the mountains of central Portugal, this oasis of tranquillity is a yogi's delight with daily yoga held in a stunning glass shala overlooking the valley.

It would be impossible not to unwind and rejuvenate during your 6 night / 7 day stay at this majestic mountain hide away. With daily yoga, 3 workshops, natural river water to swim in, books to delve into and long abandoned villages to explore, this retreat offers so much more than just yoga.

Each morning you will start off with a wonderful energising yoga session, followed by a fantastic breakfast. Your days will be filled with time to take a new path through the woods, find a new natural swimming spot, join in on a workshop, or treat yourself to a massage. There is plenty to do and to peak your interest, and each day you can discover something new.

Throughout your stay on this unique yoga holiday, your hosts will be there to look after your every need and your tutors will help you utilise your body to the best of its ability with new techniques and practices. You will feel the difference in yourself immediately, and relaxation will come back to you in waves.

All meals are included and have been thoughtfully planned using only the best of what can be scoured locally; all meals will be vegetarian, but designed to make you feel amazing while getting maximum flavours; and by all means, help yourself to seconds. Their food has become so beloved, that there are even extra cookbooks on hand should you want to take some of the dishes home with you.

The accommodation, you will have 4 options to choose from, comes equipped with everything you’ll need, including cosy beds, dressers, electricity and WiFi (in the majority of options). Those of you who are lucky enough to book a belle tent will be able to unzip and have the night sky over you too.

Everything has been planned to coexist with the beautiful natural landscape, while creating comfort, but environmentally sound – even down to the river-fed plunge pool. No large inground pools on this mountain, and in 45 minutes you can walk to the deep river for a proper swim.

I had an incredible time!It was my first time visiting with my wife (and first yoga retreat!). The location is stunning - far away from roads, noise or any distractions, it's nestled in a beautiful valley surrounded by trees with spectacular views. It is instantly relaxing. Run by British husband and wife Andy and Von, you're instantly welcomed into a relaxing and calm environment - very much welcomed into their home. We stayed in an old stone farmhouse that was cool on the ground floor and had a fan upstairs so we slept incredibly well. On site, they grown their own fruit and veg and have pigs (and two adorable piglets) you can feed or just hang out with. And they have chickens too you can pick up for a stroke. It's unlike anywhere I've stayed before. Hammocks in shady spots are dotted around - with a river running through the valley you can dip in to cool off... plus a large plunge pool by a deck with loungers. Having taken up zoom yoga thanks to the lockdown, this was my first in-person class. The 'shala' is a beautiful space overlooking the wooded mountains. Due to Covid-19, there were four guests in total and I really enjoyed Von's teaching. The food was delicious - all vegetarian. You sit in a shady spot in an outdoor courtyard and have chance to chat to Andy and the other guests. It's as social as you want it to be so you can grab a plate of food and take it to another part of the site if you want. Andy is a warm, sincere and fascinating guy. He takes guided walks first thing and its a pleasure to spend time in his company. As part of our stay, we each got a complimentary massage from Peter which was really relaxing and I had acupuncture with Von for the first time. It fixed my shoulder that I'd strained in the gym. On the last day, we all went to a nearby river to swim and have our first beer in the sunshine. I've never felt so well and rested!

This is not just a Yoga Retreat it is soooo much more…it is an oasis filled with love, warmness and the beautiful soul of their owners Andrew and Vonetta and its surrounding nature. This place helped me to reconnect with myself and my inner peace. I instantly fell in love there several times, at first when we were picked up with the loveliest and charming smile of the host Olli, the second time when the most yummy and colourful vegan food was served for dinner prepared by our chef Miia, the third time when I met all the lovely people with whom I gonna spent the next week filled with yoga, massages, morning meditation walks, hikes, swimming and again each time when we met on the yoga mat with lovely Mars, such a passionate yoga teacher and thai yoga therapist, who helped reconnect with the strength of my body and to relax in the same time. The downside of such a beautiful place is, that you might get a bit heart broken when leaving, so I did. However my heart was filled with love, warmth and wisdom helping to steer across the big city jungle of Berlin again with a shining soul. I can`t recommend highly enough

It was was my second time here in five years and I am so pleased to have returned. It was a wonderful week of tuning into nature, unwinding and recharging, in the beautiful mountain setting. Andrew and Vonetta and all the team were so hospitable, warm and welcoming and showed care and kindness throughout the week. It really was a very healing week, from the yoga with Mars Gossi, the warmth of the group, the nurturing food and the restful soulpad I slept in. The yoga with Mars was just what I needed and I appreciated the way she made me feel supported and able to go forwards on my yoga journey. Thank you to all the team at Vale de Moses, I will be back and won't leave it so long next time!
