At the time of writing the IAAF World Championship Athletics 2017 are about to start in London.
For some people this amazing event may not even be on their radar. But the very best in the world, the most amazing athletes on our planet, will be going for gold and striving to be the very best in their discipline. In a similar vein we like to think of our Not In The Guidebooks experiences as the very best of what a city and surrounding environment have to offer.
Hopefully you are as excited as we are. We therefore think the timing is perfect to provide a Not In The Guidebooks recommendation to a few of these elite track and field competitors.
First up. Wayde van Niekerk. He was born in Cape Town so we’re going to offer Wayde an honary (free) place on our Historical Urban City Run. Look, we know that if he accepts the experience he’ll be way too fast for our guide Henk (he’s the 400m world-record holder after all), but we’re hoping Wayde will see it as a great way to skip the crowds and re-discover some of Cape Town’s best hidden gems.
Next we have a little something for Mr Usain Bolt. Once he has ‘blown away’ the opposition in the 100 metres we’re going to set Usain up for the ultimate adrenaline thrill of his life. Will he win the land yachting race on stunning St. Andrews beach on our Blown Away by Scotland Adventure? We’ll see, we know he will enjoy the moment.
And for all those taking a leap of faith over the next 9 days, if Katarina Johnson-Thompson doesn’t win a medal in the heptathlon (or when she does!) … we’re offering to send Katarina off on a Serendipity Canyoning Adventure in the Blue Mountains just outside Sydney. We’re pretty confident she’ll nail it and return with a very big smile on her face.
Good luck to all the athletes in the World Championship Athletics. We are really looking forward to the collective global celebration of the very finest track and field achievements.
Run. Canyon. Yacht race. Explore. Dream. Believe.
