What You'll Do

Head out into the stunning Roman countryside and the authentic, traditional Villa delle Magnolie, where you can explore the estate and forage for your ingredients before you learn to cook like a true Italian.

Head to Termini Railway Station where you will catch a scenic thirty-minute train to Zagarolo. Here, you will meet your guide who will escort you to the beautiful country estate set in ‘The Garden of Rome’.

This area is scattered with incredible medieval towns atop the gently rolling hills, that add an unmistakable charm to the already stunning landscape.

Once you reach the Villa, you will be greeted by your hosts for the day, Eddy and Jessica, the owners of the estate. Eddy is a world of characters in one person: artist, musician, food journalist and publisher.

He will show you around the gorgeous house and the picturesque garden, which boasts an incredible panoramic view across the valley below it, before taking you to the vegetable garden, a great example of just why Italian food is so good.

This fertile soil is ideal for growing really high-quality ingredients, and it’s here that you’ll pick the freshest possible elements for your cooking session.

Once you have everything you need, it’s time to head into the kitchen to deep dive into Roman cuisine, and learn all the simple yet effective secrets that make Italian food so famous the world over.

You’ll learn how to ensure you eat seasonally for the very best experience, how to make the perfect pasta and how to structure your meals so that each course perfectly complements the other.

After a superb appetizer, you’ll learn to cook authentic Italian pasta from scratch, as well as the classic amatriciana sauce or the perfect carbonara, depending on the season.

Then, for the main course, you’ll learn how to create the famous dishes of pollo alla cacciatora (chicken with wine, sauce and vegetables) or abbacchio al forno con patate (roast lamb with potatoes). Each recipe is surprisingly simple, and you’ll learn that it’s the quality of the ingredients and the care with which they are produced that puts Italian cuisine at the top of the pecking order.

After all your efforts for preparing this delicious food… it is time to eat! Enjoy your lunch with Eddy and Jessica, accompanied by a selection of exquisite local red wines for an Italian cooking day you’ll never forget.

Location Information

The departure will be from Termini Railway Station, where you will meet at 10am in time for the 10:15 train. If you are staying in a centrally located hotel, we gladly offer a transportation service from your hotel to the railway station; in this case the pick-up will be at approximately 09.30 a.m.  In about 30 minutes you will reach Zagarolo where you will meet our representative who will escort you to the Villa delle Magnolie.

At approximately 04.00 p.m. you will return to Zagarolo Railway Station. You will arrive at Termini Railway station at approx. 05.15 p.m.

  • Free pick-up service from your accommodation in Rome, if centrally located, to Termini Rail Station
