Wine is more than a drink in this region, and although the fertile, volcanic soil produces some of the best in the world, on this wine tasting tour you'll understand the emotional and cultural value the Neapolitans attach to wine.

The experience takes place in the Altogrado winery in central Naples, run by the wonderful Enzo, an expert on everything wine.

Join our wine expert on a tasting tour and cultural exploration of Campania’s most important and iconic wines. As well as getting to know the delicately balanced flavours and aromas of these world-renowned products, you’ll receive a comprehensive explanation about the history and cultural importance attached to each one.

You’ll come to realise that, in Naples, the wine, regardless of taste and pleasure, has a fundamental “emotional” value, a seductive and strong power linked to the ability to
create connections among people.

The experience isn’t limited to just tasting these excellent Campania wines, it is also a cultural journey that helps our guests discover the history of this territory through its wines.

Each wine you taste and learn about will be paired with fresh, seasonal dishes, all sourced locally and great examples of classic Neapolitan cuisine.

Location Information

The meet up location will be at a central winery. The winery does change depending on the season and will be advised nearer to departure.

  • Locally produced dishes (mozzarella, salami, meat and specialities such as, parmigiana di melanzane (eggplant parmigiana) casatiello (a rustic brioche), gnocchi al ragù (gnocchi with ragù sauce) according to the season


1) Myths & legends of the Vesuvius:

A history of viticulture on Vesuvius, the legends of Vesuvius’s wines.
Wine Tasting: Lacryma Christi white DOC, Lacryma Christi red DOC.
Tasting of local products: pellecchiella apricot, piennolo cherry tomatoes, ricotta cheese of Sant’Anastasia, bread cafone of San Sebastiano.

2) Avellino & its surrounding area:

The only province with 3 docg. A history of the territory.
Wine Tasting: Fiano di Avellino docg, Greco di Tufo docg, Taurasi docg
Tasting of local products: Irpino truffle, cheeses of Upper Irpinia.

3) Campania on tour:

A history of wines and local products.
Wine Tasting: a tasting from five zones. (Phlegraean fields, Vesuvius area, Sorrento Peninsula, Benevento, Caserta)
Tasting of local products: Caserta piglet, hazelnut of Giffoni, buffalo mozzarella cheese.
