Hike across the world-famous Samaria Gorge in Crete and take in the impressive Cretan nature guided by an expert that will show you around safely. Across its 16km, you’ll pass by several local villages and picture-perfect landscapes that will make you understand why it is considered one of Europe’s most emblematic gorges.
At the end of your adventure, reward yourself with a refreshing dive into the crystal-clear waters of Crete and a mouthwatering meal in a traditional local tavern; with one of the greatest experiences of your life written off your bucket list and a stomach full of Cretan delicacies, you’ll be driven to your hotel for some well-deserved rest!
Start your day early and hop on the private vehicle that will take you from the heart of Chania to Omalos Plateau, where you will meet with your expert guide in order for the hiking exploits to begin.
Stretching out from the White Mountains down to the Libyan sea in 16km of mesmerising landscapes. The hike will take up approximately 6 hours and will give you the opportunity to appreciate the luscious greenery of Crete, as well as the diversity of its land. Your friendly guide will help you all throughout the hike, creating a safe environment for you to enjoy and narrating fun facts about the impressive gorge and the island of Crete in general. Once you reach your destination, the village of Agia Roumeli at the South coast of Crete, accessible only by boat, you’ll have the opportunity to indulge in a rejuvenating dive in the deep blue waters of the island and even opt for a scrumptious meal full of traditional Cretan flavors at a local taverna (not included in the price).
Having gained a once-in-a-lifetime experience, with a full stomach and with a smile on your face, you’ll take the ferry to the nearby port of Sfakia, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your accommodation in the heart of Chania for the evening. A humbling experience that you’ll never forget, a hike across the gorge of Samaria is one for the books!
