A day spent in the remote Hasalaka village. A small farming village with two of the most stunning waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Explore the area surrounding the village and take a dip in the waterfalls.
Hasalaka is a small village 2 hours out of Kandy. It houses a farming community. Your journey begins with you being picked up from your hotel in Kandy and driving to Hasalaka. You will be welcomed with a locally prepared herbal drink before you set off exploring the countryside. The Vadda Pani Falls is a 2.5km walk from the village, followed by another 1km to Rathana falls, the widest waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Take a rejuvenating dip at the base of the falls. You then can head back to the village, to watch the village matriarch prepare an authentic Sri Lankan meal. Eat a hearty “rice and curry” with fresh lake fish before returning to Kandy.
