What You'll Do

Enjoy this beautiful 17th century stone Watermill in the heart of the idyllic Gard countryside, whilst exploring the gorgeous surrounding landscape with bike rides, beach trips and kayaking along the river.

This Old Stone Watermill lies on the Vidourle river, near the fascinating village of Salinelles and only 3km from the picturesque medieval town of Sommieres.

Enjoy the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean, which are only a 35 minute drive away. The area surrounding the mill is mesmerising countryside, perfect for peaceful walks, cycle riding (bikes provided), and fishing.

The mill has a fenced old style heated salt water infinity pool (7m x 11m,), allowing you to swim whilst basking in the beautiful sun of the South of France.

The Watermill also has its own river beach with 2 kayaks (each for 2 adults and a child), games room (pool table, table tennis and other toys), mini football pitch, and an adventure playground for young children. This family-friendly accommodation is perfect for any occasion, and is sure to keep every member of the group happy!

The mill comprises of as accommodation for up to 27 people split between three gites, so can be a lovely place to stay for a couple seeking peace and tranquillity in a stunning location, as well as a families looking for a group holiday.

The first gite is on the ground floor, and has 2 double rooms (one with a cot) as well as child’s bedroom with 2 child beds. This can sleep 6 people plus a cot.

The second gite is on the first floor of the Watermill and has 1 double room, 1 double or twin room as well as a triple room (up a small wooden staircase under the eaves of the house). Cots are also available for this gite, meaning it can sleep 7 as well as 2 cots.

This Watermill is near to a cafe, 2 restaurants and thriving busy markets, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local culture and cuisine.

Take a 5 minutes stroll through the unique South of France countryside and you will find 3 restaurants, the local cafe and the post office in Salinelles.

With a 5 minute drive (or cycle on the newly converted old train track) into Sommieres, you can reach 2 supermarkets as well as lots of bars and restaurants. You will find everything you could possibly require in this gorgeous town.

Welcome to my holiday home, unfortunately I’m based in Australia but my friends Sophie & Wendy are here to make you comfortable.

If you are looking for a holiday deep in nature but still with lots of places to see and visit without going too far - the watermill is for you.

Walk to the village for a drink or a meal or just to fetch your bread - or cycle there!

Or take the cycle path into Sommieres 3km away - a fabulous market on Saturdays wows everybody. Relax by our heated, salt water pool or drive to Avignon for the day.

Location Information

The Old Watermill is 30 mins from Nimes. The easiest way to reach the Watermill using airplanes is to fly to Nimes or Montpellier. If you would prefer to take the train then you can take the train to Nimes via Paris or direct from London to Avignon on the Eurostar.

The Old Watermill lies on the Vidourle river, near to the stunning city of Salinelles and only 3km away from the picturesque medieval town of Sommieres.

You will be given a free welcome pack on arrival. This includes: tea, coffee, sugar, bottle of milk, bottle of wine, handful of dishwasher and washing machine tablets, toilet paper, kitchen paper, bin bags, charcoal, cleaning materials, saucisson, nibbles, olives and biscuits.

The changeover day is Friday. You will arrive on a Friday and depart on a Friday, regardless of how many weeks your stay is. Check in is at 5pm and check out is at 10am.

The Watermill is open for operation from mid April to the end of October. The pool will depend on the weather, and will be heated from mid May to the end of September.
