An Afternoon of Kayaking in Ullswater

What You'll Do

Ullswater is considered by many to be the most beautiful of the big lakes in a region of incredible scenery. Immerse yourself in its nature and experience the tranquility of the Lake District like never before, as you explore the beauty of this lake on an afternoon guided kayak tour.

Before meeting with Leigh, your guide, he’ll tell you what’s good to bring along. After a friendly welcome and a little getting to know you, Leigh will help you decide what is best to wear for the conditions that day to ensure you are comfortable throughout. This is followed by a quick brief on what to do, then it’s right onto the water.

There’s no set route or farthest out point – that will depend on conditions and group ability. What is guaranteed though is fun, laughs, games and, of course, kayaking. Leigh will also be on hand to offer suggestions on other things to see and do in the area, as well as advice on walking trails around Ullswater.

The Sea Kayaks provided are used for maximum comfort and stability. You’ll use double (tandem) boats unless there is an odd number of guests on the trip. While a capsize is very unlikely, it is always possible, so please bring spare clothes just in case you do go in.

Head out onto the beautiful expanse of Ullswater on a unique kayaking adventure.

Benefit from the local knowledge and expertise of your local guide to make great discoveries.

Experience true wilderness and get in touch with nature in the Lake District.

On every one of these trips, the idea is to have a good day. Enjoying the scenery and a bit of a chat are of more interest and importance than how fast or far you travel. They use ‘chatting distance‘ as a measurement in group management. The routes and the boats have both been chosen with beginners in mind.

It depends on what challenges you. As an experienced paddler, you will be free to roam always in a safe ‘chatting distance’.

There is no set route as it will very much depend on the conditions and the groups ability. Wherever you go, it will be scenic.
