Cascading down the sides of the gleaming white Cordillera de Talamanca and along the lush riverbanks of the Río Savegre, this high altitude national park is often veiled in grey hanging clouds from which bursts flashes of colour and light in the form of the countless exotic birds that nest there.

The cloud forest supports 20% of Costa Rica’s bird species, most notably and unsurprisingly the quetzal, as well as jaguars, monkeys and tapirs, making the park a paradise for wildlife.

Small communities are dotted throughout the park, living in complete harmony with the forest and the beautiful surroundings they call home.

There is little as rewarding, or as rejuvenating, as exploring the trails that wind through the trees with a local, stumbling upon impossibly beautiful lagoons with fresh, tropical water cascading from green flanked cliffs.
