You will drive to Silfra to snorkel the clearest water in the world and float between two continents in Iceland!

A snorkelling adventure in the famous Silfra fissure is an unforgettable experience, where the astonishing clarity of the water reveals a mesmerizing underwater world full of colours you don’t see above the surface.

Silfra is a fissure created by the separation of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates cutting through Iceland. The fissure fills with glacial water that has been filtered underground for decades through hard, porous lava rock. The filtering process of the glacial water makes Silfra one of the clearest bodies of water on earth with up to 120 meters of visibility.

Upon arrival at Silfra, your guide will give you your dry suit and snorkeling equipment. Your snorkel guide will explain how to use this equipment and how to ensure that you will be warm and comfortable during your 30 to 40 minute snorkelling tour. You will swim through the areas known as ‘ Silfra Hall’, ‘Silfra Cathedral’, and ‘Silfra Lagoon’.

You will float through Big Crack, Silfra’s narrowest section and where the continental plates are so close you can almost touch them.

The fissure then widens into Silfra Hall. Here the full spectrum of Silfra’s colours and clarity become all the more apparent. At this point if you look at just the right angle you can see all the way to lake Thingvallavatn, over 150m away. Near to the opening to Thingvellir lake we will enter the Silfra Cathedral; as the depth reaches 23m you feel like you are flying over the boulders and glacial silt. Your swim will end in the beautiful Silfra Lagoon.

Golden Circle and Snow Mobiling

Today you will embark on an exciting and fun adventure on Iceland’s Golden Circle.

The Golden Circle route includes three equally stunning locations in southwest Iceland: Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss waterfall. These sites are renowned across the world and are as spectacular as they are unique.

Thingvellir National Park is an amazing site, steeped in history and folklore and surrounded by incredible geology. It has the honour of being the first of Iceland’s three national parks to be established. It is also the only one that has been granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

It is a place where dramatic geology meets a millennium of fascinating history. Here, visitors to Thingvellir can discover the roots of this island’s formation, see the 2 tectonic plates of America and Eurasia, and hear about how Medieval Icelanders created its democratic society and held their first parliament on this site.

The Geysir Geothermal Area is located within the Haukadalur Valley. En route, it is possible to see the earth’s volcanic activity grow more intense. Steaming vents and chimneys are visible along the way. This settlement has a spa that is heated by hot water currents beneath the ground’s surface. Its steam rooms sit on top of bubbling hot pots, which reach a sweltering 60°C (140°F).

Gullfoss Waterfall One of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. Visitors can find the waterfall less than ten minutes down the road from Geysir. This powerful waterfall is located in a plunging, ancient valley and tumbles down two drops, from an overall height of 32 meters (105 ft). During its heaviest flow in the summer, it pours an average of 140 cubic meters (4944 cubic feet) of water every second, a spectacular sight!

The next stop on your route today is the Langjokull ice cap – the second largest in Iceland. you will drive up on to the glacier by super jeep and once you arrive at our glacier hut, you will receive the appropriate equipment, for your snow mobile adventure. Helmets, overalls, overshoes, gloves and a hat will be provided. Our friendly and fun-loving guides will give you instructions on how to operate the snowmobile and go over the safety procedures before you ride off into the winter wonderland. Our snowmobiles are double-riders and children are welcome to ride as passengers as long as they are at least 6 years old.

After breakfast at hotel your driver will take you on a journey to experience an incredible ice cave.

You will meet your ice caving team in Vik the southern most town in Iceland, and you will then embark on a beautiful and exciting super jeep ride to a secret area of one of Iceland’s thirteen glaciers ( a 30-60 minute ride) Once in the glacier area, you will borrow your caving gear ( helmet, headlamp, and crampons) and our local guide will do an educational brief on safety, what to expect, etc. You’ll take a super fun walk to the glacier ice cave (5-10 minutes) and go inside to explore it. We will have a total of 45-60 minutes in the glacier area for photos and exploration. Our local Vik Iceland guide will give you a little more insight into how the ice cave was formed and answer any questions you may have. After ample time for your photos and selfies, we hike back out and take the gear off.

Then it’s time to continue on your Iceland discovery.

Skógafoss waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls in Iceland, boasting a drop of 60 metres and a width of 15 metres, and is one of the major attractions along the South Coast. Visitors to Skógafoss can walk right up to where the cascading water crashes into the ground, making  a fantastic photographic opportunity. Photos are made even more amazing by the sheer size of the mist and spray clouds constantly formed by the waterfall, creating rainbows in the light. Seljalandsfoss waterfall  is considered a must see stop on the South Coast route, in large part due to the fact that visitors can actually walk behind the cascading water here. This makes the feature particularly attractive to nature photographers who jump at the chance to snap the waterfall from behind.
